Chapter 2

We were silent as we entered Kotsumaki's.

"Welcome!" A waitress greeted us and lead us to a table for 2.

Yuu-kun was still a bit pissed off.

I sighed and gave the waitress a smile,"We'll order later."

She smiled back,"No problem." Before greeting others that came in.

I held the menu in both hands deciding on what I want.

Yuu did the same.

Once the waitress came back I told her my order,"I would like your dinner specials, please. Can I have miso soup along with that?"

"Of course! Is that all, miss?" She asked,"Would you like green tea or herbal tea?"

"Um...herbal tea please." Ririka thinks for a moment.

Ririka forced a smile to appear on her face,"What would you like Yuu-kun?"

Yuu talked in a monotone voice,"I'll the same."

"Herbal tea?" The waitress asks.

He solemnly nodded.

She nodded,"Alright. We would be back with your order in 10 minutes!"

"Take your time..." Ririka cries softly.

It was silent.

The atmosphere around them was as thick as foggy clouds mushed tightly together.

Packed, compressed and everything.

Ririka cleared her throat as she start to drift off to her own world.

Her eye caught something on the menu.

Promise Plate.

Somehow the name itself seemed to bring back memories.

"Ryo-kun! To finalize our promise, we shall do the traditional pinky swear!" Ririka cries and holds out her pinkie.

Ryosuke looked confused,"Why?"

Ririka rolled her eyes,"This will ensure that we will keep our promise no matter how hard it is!"

Ryosuke eyes the pinkie for a bit before holding out his own. Their pinkie entwined together.

With ought it seems tight, in reality it wasn't tight at all. Ririka smiled brightly,"Our promise. Our final promise."

Ryosuke smiled along with her,"Be sure to come back just the way you are."

"You too Ryo-kun!"

"Of course Riri-chan."

Unconsciously a small smile appeared onto her face.

Ririka asked for the waitress,"I would also like to have a promise plate if possible."

"Of course."

Ririka nodded as the waitress went back to work.

Yuu felt annoyed, after all this. . .its still that stupid promise?

"I can't believe I'm losing to some stupid promise." He muttered angrily to himself.

As soon as their meals are brought to the table, Yuu grabbed Ririka's soft hands.

"You know. . .some promises are made by mistakes. . .and so they are meant to be broken. . .not kept."

Ririka stared at their entwined hands.

She titled her head slightly and lifted her head to me this eyes.

Just as soon as their eyes meet she whispered,"Not all quotes are real."

"Thus, I'll still entwine my promise once more. . .just like our hands." She gave him a soft but firm squeeze.

"Thank you for always being there for me. Especially in America." She gave him a smile, but it faltered after what she's going to say next," But now that I am back in Japan. . .i wish that you'll support me once more."

"If you just cannot accept it. . .then. . .please do not force yourself to intrude in my life."

"I. . .I understand. . ."

Ririka smiled sadly,"Thank you. . .for everything. . .Yuu."

"Can you make a final promise?" Yuu asked, his voice returning.

Ririka frozen for a second,"Of course. But I'll be the last promise."

Yuu nodded,"Meet me in classroom 3B tomorrow. I'll tell you our final promise."

Ririka nodded, still uncertain about their last promise.

She is like snow.

If I carelessly reach out and touch her. . .she'll melt.

Thus, I would take on the role of the temperature. . .

keeping her happy until she finally reaches her final touch of heat.
