The sinks low hissing was the only thing in Sam's ear shot, she was alone. Like always, the schools bathroom was the only place she could escape. From the cold eyes of her peers the unspoken questions burning at the edge of their lips, wonder and insults lurking around every corner. Focusing on the sound from the faucet Sam wouldn't allow her mind to wonder, she fought to stay in the present. The memory pulling away at her sanity, tormenting her and leaving her vulnerable.
She has been pinned as the cause for her seven year old brother's death. Rumors of her drowning, strangling, ripping her brother to shreds, than dancing in his blood. She placed her unsteady hands under the water letting the stream flow around them and into the off white sink. Some people have even started a rumor she had eaten her brother, cooked him in the oven devouring his flesh, some believe Sam still continued to eat children in such a fashion. She glanced in the mirror catching her own eyes starring back at her hollow and broken, lost in the despair of an un-tranquil sea. Sam shook her head riding the thoughts erupting in her brain, green, with parts of light brown, hazel that's all she saw, a lie. She returned her gaze to the water lowering her head the freezing liquid so close her breathing had become ragged with the cruelty of her own mind. She drew her hands towards her in a smooth motion, splashing her face. Grabbing the sides of the sink for support as she watched the water fall from her. Drop after drop, it was raining lightly at first, than the water began pelting the car. Sam closed her eyes placing her hands on her slim face. Her lips mouthing the same simple word over and over again, stop. She wasn't planning on driving, but Hunter insisted.

"Sammy please we haven't celebrated. Mom would understand, all were doing is going to get ice-cream, I mean what's the worst that could happen. Besides I just turned seven it can be like a birthday thing too." His hands were wrapped around her wrist she couldn't help but crack. His eyes were sparkling just as green as hers. Sam glanced out the window taking in the light Oregon rain. She was used to these roads she knew them like the back of her hand. Hunter was right what was the worst that could happen.

"Fine Hunt, but you have to promise not to tell our parents. They won't be happy if they figured out we left while they're gone." Sam was already walking towards the garage passing the wall of old pictures they took years ago. Her favorite was the one they took when Hunter was a baby, she was holding him. His small body safe in her protective arms, this moment she felt responsible for him. He was going to have a strong person in his life no matter what happened, in that moment Sam understood how much he meant to her.

Hunter was right behind her already droning on about his day, he had just come home from his friends. She had heard him speak of a tree house apparently it had a safe in the floor. Which held something like a time capsule. She reached the door and paused kneeling until Hunter was eye level with her. Then she pulled her brother into a bear hug, his small body was safe in her protective arms for what felt like the thousandth time.

The door besides her opened, two girls laughing waltzed in, she quickly turned back to the mirror. Wiping the water off her face, most of it anyways. Sam's heart already began speeding up pounding against her ribs. She tried to hide her trembling hands pulling her hoody sleeves lower.
The taller girl made a sort of snorting noise. Sam turned to see that the girl was looking directly at her. The shorter one giggled while looking Sam up and down. The taller one had black hair and pitch dark eyes and unreasonably straight hair. Crimson stained lips tugged into a crooked smirk. The shorter girl had curled dirty blonde hair accompanied by piercingly blue eyes, and lashes that touched her eyebrows. She stood directly behind the girl who's eyes resembled coals. Dark yet surrounded by fire, her eagerness filled the air surrounding Sam. She bit her lip leaning closer to Sam.
