The door slid open exposing the empty garage, light reflecting from the hallway off the car she knew as hers. Hunt laughing at his own jokes, happy. The last times she was happy was then, how could she ever be happy again. The car lights flashed on as Sam unlocked the door Hunter eager to sit in the front. He ran passed her and onto the passenger seat. Sam smiled at the ground hopping into the driver seat. Right as she started the car Hunt attacked the radio. Turning it up so high Sam could hardly think, only the song filled her mind. She opened the garage and they headed towards the tree surrounded road. The only source of light coming from her car, the splashing of rain finding her windshield.

Hunter was dancing besides Sam, the biggest smile stuck on his face. While Sam sang along to the song yelling at the tops of her lungs and drumming on the steering wheel. Hunter joining in quickly allowing their voices to disturb the slow melody. Twisting together to corrupt the songs integrity.

Her car lights were fighting the darkness trying to show her the road, but it seemed to be consuming the rays turning the world to darkness. Leaving her blind to most of the turns, but growing up here she knew exactly every which way the road bent and curved. The rain began to pick up the wind throwing it onto her car blurring the already unknown path. She turned the windshield wipers on full blast attempting to clear her vision. But it seemed the faster they went the more water appeared. Fear built in the back of her mind, Sam let the music wash it away.

Sam had pushed that thought to the back of her mind as the car sped towards town. She looked at Hunt, his care free attitude and personality glowing besides her brightening her content life. Without her attention she drove dangerously close to a construction zone sight. The bright orange reflection pierced into the car and Sam whipped her head towards the road. Which happened to be closed off her muscles strained as she slammed on the breaks, the car lost control, the rear pulling to the left bringing the rest with it. Her shrieks caught in her throat and Hunters screams filled her ears. She turned the steering wheel to the left hoping to regain control, the car whined but didn't slow. Her car flew down the slick road, veering towards the guard rail. The horrible whinnying of metal on metal over powered their screams. Shaking the car throwing the bodies inside around like ragdolls. The car spun flying into the wooded area surrounding them. Sam's car flipped rolling down crunching bushes and plants. Flipping over and over again. Than everything went dark, the grunting of a tortured engine lacing the background of the constant ringing in the car.

Sam opened her eyes darkness smearing her vision while a pressure built behind them. A fog settled in her mind, mixing her thoughts with the past. Anything Sam tried to construct, about what was going on faded as soon as it appeared. A strange copper taste filled her mouth. The taste became clear, blood. There was blood in her mouth, she realized shortly after she was hanging, suspended above the ground by her seatbelt. Watching her hair reach for the ground, some stuck together with what must have been more blood. She turned to see her brother hanging limply beside her unconscious. Reaching towards him she shook his arm but she received no response. Her ringing ears filled with a far away noise. As it became clear she realized it came from her. She was yelling at Hunter screaming his name. With no results she dropped her arm still confused and aching. She pulled her arm over to her seatbelt and clicked the button in. Without fully understanding, she fell head first onto the roof of the car. This hurt more than she would have imagined. Pain shot up her spine ending in her toes. She let out a groan turning her body. Numb with pain she sat up returning her attention to Hunter. Her movements were slow her brain was coated in molasses. After what felt like forever she had pulled her body over to Hunters side, placing her self under him while she reached for his buckle. With a strong push his limp body fell into her arms.

Again that moment flashed in her mind, Hunter as a baby. Calm in her protective arms, so much love coursed through her. But that thought vanished as Sam pulled his face towards her. His cheeks had lost their rosy tinge that was so frequently noticeable. His skin was pale, ghostly, horrified Sam placed her ear near his mouth listening for his breath. At first she heard nothing, but as she listened a little harder she could hear the faint intake of air. Labored and hardly there, not to mention the trickle of blood running down his head. Sam gently set him on the floor her eyes darting around the wreckage. How much longer did her brother have, she needed her phone. All she could see was blood, splatters, drops, and pools. So much blood, Sam followed a trail to her arm. She hadn't noticed it until now, the cut tore through her hand. Flesh stuck in every which way, jagged, and ugly. She inhaled a shaky breath peeling her eyes away from her injury. Her left eye still blurry she whipped it, attempting to clear it. Pulling her hand away she felt the warm sticky ooze which she had become familiar with. Fear ate at her insides erupting in waves of shock.

Sam felt a hand on her shoulder it began to shake her a noise pushing its way into her head. Samantha shut her eyes hard trying to force the noise away. But the more aware of it she became the more her past slipped away, the more her brother lay unattended and unprotected. The voice cleared it self echoing over and over stealing her from her brother.

"Hey kid are you okay? What's wrong your scaring the kids." Sam opened her eyes to find her self laying on the ground. Grass cradling her trembling body. She lifted her head to see a man kneeling beside her. Concern and confusion clearly shown on his face. She whipped off as much of her tears as she could before sitting up. The memories still fresh in her brain even more painful than before.

"Uh....y..ye..yea......I..Im...f..f...fine." Sam managed to stutter, she kept her eyes on her hands, unwilling to meet his gaze.

"Do you need me to call someone, it's really no trouble." He said concern lacing his voice.

"NO!I...I mean. no" Sam shouted, she needed to go. She Quickly stood her legs gelatin shaking with her sudden movements and took off. Running away from the trail she fumbled with her steps the fear unwavering. Her memories branded behind her eyes leaving her weak and terrified. How much longer can she live this way, running from everything she knows.
