Air ripped into Sam's fiery lungs she forced it out struggling to keep her momentum. Her fears chasing her every step trying to force themselves into her head. Trying to break her, to rip her apart, Sam sped up. The voices shouted behind her screaming her name strung along with insults. Sam covered her ears attempting to block out the noise which seemed to grow behind her hurried steps. They were trying to consume her she scraped past a tree which snagged her jacket ripping her to the side. Her clothing caught by the tree the rough branch tearing her comfort away ripping at her remaining resolve. Sam let out the burning in her lungs in a shout, cursing the tree. Trying to rip the jacket away to no avail she screeched with more force.
The pressure forcing her to act quickly the wave filled with voices attacking her ferociously. Sam slipped from the baggy hoodie, cold nipping her newly exposed arms. Returning to her escape the uneven ground sending her further into the unknown. The branches of the surrounding trees tore at Sam, she pushed on her muscles straining screaming from her fast strides. Her vision blurry tears, her steps faltered, foot snagged on a root. Sam was slung forward her momentum throwing her into the hard wood of a tree. She threw her arms around the scratchy wood the air knocked from her body. A small squeak escaped her lips, her tear brimmed eyes spilling over. She gasped filling her lungs with air before returning to the soft sobs that racked her body, the voices won.
"You murdered him, your own blood, your baby brother!"
"Monster!"
"Murderer!"
"Your going to burn in hell, Samantha and you deserve it!"
"Your a disappointment to everyone and everything!"
"Your sick."
"I hate you too Sam, your parents have a right to hate you, you killed the only thing they ever loved."
"You ruined everything Sam, everything."
"Nobody will ever love you if they knew what you did."
"Your a sad excuse of a human being Sam."
"Shut up! Stop, Stop...stop. please..stop." Sam yelled silencing the raging voices she fell to her knees with the rumbling sky. She looked up to see the mix of dirty greys dancing with the remaining white, the sky looked beautiful the rumbling thunder mimicking a lullaby. A drop of rain cascaded down the leaves above moving with delicate grace, landing onto Sam's waiting cheek, she shivered cold pumping through her veins as a crisp sensation sent her skin into bumps. More fell covering her forcing her clothes to stick to her body tightly, forming a second skin. Sam closed her eyes allowing the water to fall on her each drop gentle like a light kiss.
A crackling light lit the back of Sam's eyelids she opened them to catch the purple light fading back into the darkness. Sleep slipped away as Sam felt mud mush under her hands water pelting her exposed skin, unable to see the approaching water Sam gasped. "How did I get here, where am I?" Fear shot through Sam's shaking body as she sat up. Goose bumps covering her body as a cold wind ripped at her uncovered skin. Sam reached out her hand grazing the rough surface of a sturdy object, she crawled towards it sliding in the thick slippery mush that surrounded her. Her slim trembling fingers slid against the rough bark of a slightly familiar tree, she used the unmoving object to stand sliding up the tree her muscles quivered. Her stomach a mess of tangled nerve endings rapidly shooting painful waves through her body. Sam inhaled a deep shaky breath her eyelids closing while a wave of panic engulfed her mind. A strong pain erupted in her abdomen accompanied by a rumbling noise that gave thunder a run for its money. Shocked Samantha doubled over her weight supported by the tree, Sam tried to think of what she had eaten but came up with nothing. She had been so nervous for the first day back in hell she spaced eating. Her stomach lurched angrily as revelation spread around her body, fatigue followed forcing her muscles to contract. Sam collapsed face first in the mush that oozed in between her fingers, She let out a whimper as her arms attempted to push her body from the muck. She trembled with each inch she gained sliding slightly forward she pushed up until her legs could hold her weight. Forcing herself up Sam stood shivering from the cold, she took a step than another passing the tree and leaving with it her sanity.
