Sam listened to the beat bringing her from her slumber, the constant noise sat to her left. Almost fluttering like a calm delicate butterfly, the image graced her lips with a small smile. She slowly opened her eyes unwilling to question her whereabouts, expecting a dully light room, accompanied with no decorations or souvenirs. Just her one small box that sat under her bed, always within reach yet hidden from the world. But when she became aware of the white walls and sterile scented room Sam's heart began to race thumping against her ribs, the beeping picking up. Samantha flung the small linen sheet off her body to find she was in a small paper gown, rough and way too thin for her liking. Sweat began accumulating above her brow and on her palms her mind ripping in a hundred different directions. This situation was to much like then for her liking. She needed air and now, Sam slid her legs to the ground a dull ache surrounding her body pulsing through her limbs. A metal clang caught her attention she glanced to her right to discover an IV her eyes darted along the plastic cord that traveled towards her arm. With a gasp she spotted in the bend of her right elbow had been attached to the IV, without a second thought she ripped it out, the tape tearing at her leaving a red square of tender blotchy skin. Sam let out a silent cry her hand automatically catching hold of the sensor on her finger throwing it to the floor. Ending the racing noise that had filled her mind. Sam left the room running for no particular reason than to escape the scent that reminded her of the morgue. Images filled her vision of that day. When she raced to find her brother, when her parents watched her run around speechless, providing her with no comfort. No.no.no. Not again. "Hunter, Hunter, HUNTER!" Sam wailed her voice reverberating around the hospitals pristine hallway. A concerned nurse stepped into the hallway to discover the pale girl stumbling towards him her eyes glazed over. Sparkling as tears traveled down her colorless cheeks. "Help. I. Need. To Find Him. Help." Sam stuttered arms stretched outward toward the unprepared nurse. He then walked towards her putting his arms around her torso as her legs lost their remaining stability. All of her weight being held up by the nurse preventing her from collapsing.
"Who are you looking for?" Questioned the broad shouldered man who pulled Sam over to an unoccupied wheelchair.
Sam placed her numb arm on his shoulder as she whimpered, "Hunter. Hunter Evans. He's my little. Brother."
Samantha's mind was stuck in the past her actions identical to the first time. "We were in a crash. You took him away from me, where did you take him? He needs me. Without me. He. He'll. He he..""Okay I need you to calm down. But there were no car crashes last night. And nobody with that name was brought into the hospital. But I need your name. What's your name?" The nurse was squatting to become eye level with Sam her breathing had become sporadic and her eyes began darting around searching for Hunter. "Hey what's your name?" The nurse tried again but to no avail. Sam shoved his arms away as she flopped from the chair sliding along the wall. Her pace began to pick up as the nurse shouted after her. She passed door after door one word leaving her lips repeatedly.
"Hunter!" Her limbs felt heavy as she attempted to run through the hospitals hallways the nurses shouting lost as she took a sharp right. Her legs mindlessly led her to a cold hallway. When she burst through the last doors she found herself in the last room she wanted to be in. The long sheet of metal that sat still in the center of the room was used as a table. It sat empty yet Sam saw the freshly spilled blood that she knew to be her brothers. She turned rapidly to find the small square objects that held the deceased. With a trembling hand she reached for the nearest one, the initials H.E. Sharply placed on the door. As her hand fell against the cold metal handle she opened it with a click. Her heart stopping mid beat as she pulled the metal table toward herself. A black bag sat above it too small to be anyone but Hunter. She slowly pulled the zipper down revealing the boy. His eyes open yet unseeing the life ripped from his body. His lips a blue hue exposing how cold his body had become. Hunters mouth sat slack his skin pale with hints of purple veins underneath the surface. Sam flung her hand from the bag a shriek escaping her bleeding lip. The flailing arm collided with her body the force making her stumble and she fell to her knees. Strangled cries raked her body as her hands wound in her hair, her body slowly curling into a ball. Trying to become small enough to escape this nightmare that had become her life. As she sat shaking on the ground she was thrown back to that night.

Gently setting Hunter down sam crawled to the back of the disfigured car. The windows broken and scattered around the wreckage. With every hand she set down glass became embedded into her palm. With blood pooling under her hands she looked for her phone. Sliding around from the slick mess under her Sam found nothing. Her phone had clearly been flung from the wreckage. With a confused sigh Sam scooped hunter into her arms his head fell onto her shoulder. Sliding to the broken windshield she placed a hand on the back of his head attempting to be a shield. With a few added kicks, it shattered allowing Sam to escape. She held Hunter with her less damaged arm pressing him to her hip as she followed the broken path the car cleared. "Help! Help!" She cried out rain pelting the siblings her voice carried away with the wind.
Slowly she stumbled up the hill her car had recently damaged. The slick mud made it difficult to climb Hunters weight making her unsteady. She constantly fell over and over, after the sixth time she fell protecting her brothers limp body, she favored crawling. Grabbing at uprooted trees and pulling her body upward. As she neared the top she shakily stood up. Rain pulling her blood into a washed out pink rinsing it from her frigid skin. With nothing but Hunter on her mind she ran down the slick road searching for help.

"Hey, hey it's okay why are you crying?" The nurses rough voice pulled Sam into the present. She glared at him through blurry eyes pointing at the recently pulled out table above her head."My brother. He. He's...All because I couldn't save him." Sam shuttered on the verge of hyperventilating. The nurse set a stern hand on her shoulder his face contorted with confusion as he looked at the table.
"Hey I don't know what you're talking about but there isn't anything on that table." He spoke slowly his words cutting like a knife through Sam's hallucination. She scrambled to her feet falling onto the cold metal.
"No.. He.. He was just here!" She cried her hands sliding around the repulsive metal, the table containing Hunter completely empty. Slamming the door shut to the compartment, she found the initials that were so clear to be completely gone as well. She dropped her trembling hands and walked backwards straight into the awaiting nurse. He gently pulled her arm leading her out of the morgue to a wheelchair held by another nurse. Sam obediently sat in the chair starring straight forward. She was so wrapped up in her mind that she doesn't remember being brought back to her room or the doctor placing restraints on her arms. Her mind was plagued with the illusion of her dead brother. Which sat there realistically only to be thrown away by the nurse who had brought her back into reality.
