 Zenin Household

A family dinner where important members of the family are gathered doesn't usually happen in the Zenin household. It's being held every time there is something urgent or extremely important to talk about. The relationship between them is far from nice and most of the time they compete with each other.

Ougi, Jinichi, Naoya are seated on the left side while Mai and Maki are on the right of the long dining table where two retainers hover around them, serving food and drinks.

Zenin Naobito walks in and takes his designated seat as the head of the family.

"So what's the occasion?" Naoya asks, already taking a bite of a piece of fish.

Naobito shoots him a disappointed look and motions for everyone to start eating because his jackass of a son has just started without waiting for him.

"I'll announce it after dinner. For now, let's indulge in the blessings in front of us."

"Blessings?" Naoya looks around amusingly. "Family? Food? Drinks? Or perhaps," he gazes at Mai who's on the opposite side of his seat, and winks flirtatiously. "The beauty of my dear cousin." and raises a teacup pointing at her.

"Can you shut the hell up? You're killing my appetite." Maki snaps , taking her chopsticks and begins eating. Mai, who sits next to her older twin sister, avoids any eye contact from Naoya. The older of the twins whispers something in the line of 'ignore the damn fool and just eat'

Naoya sneers at Maki. "Jealousy isn't attractive, Maki." he says dryly and continues eating.

Maki glares at him and grunts. "You wish any woman in this household would like to be with you. Wake up cause you're dreaming."

"Imagine having manners." Naoya mocks.

"Imagine having someone who will like you." Maki mocks back.

"And imagine eating dinner in peace. Both of you, enough of this!" Naobito scolds them both.

Naoya and Maki are having a glaring competition from the opposite sides of the table when Mai tugs the sleeves of her sister telling her to stop. Neither of them would back down in this argument and Mai can tell her sister won't stop any time soon.

"See this, daddy? This is why Maki should get a husband. She needs a man who will put her in her right place." Naoya fakes a concerned tone and looks at Mai. "Unlike Mai here, she's strong but knows that she's a woman."

"HAH?" Maki slams a hand over the table, the squabble between the cousins heated up even more. "A strong woman doesn't need a man! And especially not a man like you!"

"Silence!" Naobito's booming voice finally silenced them for real. "Naoya, I won't hear another insult coming from you in this dinner, and Maki, learn how to respect your family. You are a woman, remember that!"

The last part of his statement ignites anger within her. Oh, how she wants to flip the table at everyone. Maki wants to fight back but Mai stops her.

"Just let it go, big sister."

"Tch." Maki glowers one last time to both Naoya and Naobito and side-eyes her father. She can't believe Ougi is just sitting there in peace while both of his daughters are being insulted and pestered. What a useless father!

Later, Naobito scans everyone seeing how they're almost finished with their food and starts.

"I met with Gojo Satoru a few days ago with regards to ending the long-time conflict between our families."
