AMARA D'AMORE LEARNED FROM A YOUNG AGE THAT NOTHING LASTS FOREVER. Everything is fast moving and temporary. Her life is a maelstrom of bad ideas and nothing ever going right.

Here's how Amara's story goes, every time: death, bitterness, tragicness, and doomed lovers who's love was in the stars. She sees the lovers, their lips on one another's skin; looking at each other like the world could fall apart and they would still have each other and she sees their glowing marks, forever linking them and she sighs.

Amara's heart is tired. Tired of the tragedies she's faced in life when her mother decided to sleep with a god, falling for pretty lies given with a charming smile and sultry voice, she's now gods knows where, wasting her life with booze and men who'd never fill the void, hating that she ever gave birth to her daughter.

Amara admits, she hates that her mother gave birth to her too. It all tumbled downhill from there, really.

One time when Amara was only ten years old, just two years before she discovers what a joy it is to be a demigod, her mother sat on the foot of her bed at exactly 2:30 AM with tears down her face, fingers so tightly wrapped in her pink bedsheets that her knuckles turned white.
