Zeke walks up to Shao's cave, like he did every Sunday morning after he was done playing piano for Sunday service at the church.

He hopped up the stairs and skipped down the hall to the flat, eager to show his partner the new rhymes he had come up with.

Happily humming to himself he blew open the door, instantly noticing the heavy atmosphere of the room he'd spent countless late nights in.

Shao's lights were always on, lighting up the space. Why was it dark in here?

The dead silence gave Zeke a weary feeling.

"Shao? Shaolin? Shaolin Fantastic?" he cooed, teasing him.

Shao had to be playing some kind of trick on him right? He was always playing games with Zeke, anything to put that smile on his face.

He makes his way around the room searching for his best friend.

"Aye Shao man where you at? What's with all the lights off? Neva told me you was redec-"

Zeke's grin came to a full halt as he rounded the corner meeting the doorframe of where Shaolin was known to sleep.

His heart sank at the horrific sight.

Shao lay sprawled out on the mattress on the floor, his hands chained above him, lifting him forward. He blankly stared forward showing no emotion as if he was exhausted.

The room around him was messy and torn through. Shao didn't appear to be wearing any clothing as the rustled bed sheets loosely covered him.

Zeke immediately rushed over to Shao's side frantically shouting,

"No No No. Shao. What happened? Who did this to you?"

Shao's gaze stayed forward, as if he was sleeping with his eyes open. He didn't move or acknowledge Zeke's presence.

Zeke grabbed a rusty pair of pliers laying across the room.

Returning to Shao's side he swiftly clipped him free from the chains that held him up.

Shao fell lifeless onto the mattress, eyes still facing forward, and mumbling something Zeke couldn't make out.

Setting the tool down, Zeke grabbed Shao by his shoulders and lifted him up into his arms.

"It's okay I'm here. I've got you. You're gonna be okay." Zeke's shaky voice whispers, bringing Shao as close as possible.

He looked into Shao's eyes, worried he wasn't responding to anything he said.

"Shaolin. It's me. It's Zeke. Can you hear me?" Zeke held both sides of Shao's face looking deeply in his eyes for a sign of recognition.

His eyes began to water, streaming down upon Shao's chest as they fell.

Shaking, he rested his forehead against Shao's, closing his eyes in pain.

"Please." He cried out slowly.

"Bks" Shao barely manages to get out. Zeke's eyes open, hopeful that Shao was going to be okay.

"Shao? You can hear me?" He smiles widely wiping his tears away.

Shao's eyes look over to meet Zeke's.

"Mmm" Shao hums as his eyes begin to start to relax and drift off.

Zeke made sure to cover Shao up before he fell into a deep sleep.

He wanted him to feel comfortable and safe in his arms when he woke up.

Zeke held Shao in his arms and softly rocked him back and forth, soothing him to rest.

He looks down upon his partner admiring how peaceful he looked sleeping.

He had never realized how handsome Shao was.

His glowing dark skin and velvet round lips made it hard for Zeke not to stare.

His heart ached at the thought of not having Shaolin in his life anymore.

What would he have done if he had been too late?

Shao was the only one who really understood him. He could never leave him behind, they were in this together.

Zeke brought Shaolin's head onto his chest laying into the mattress with him.

He covered Shao with a blanket making sure he was comfortable.

He let out the last of his tears holding Shao tight, softly humming his rhymes as he too fell asleep.
