➭ Book 2, Chapter 7: The Obstacle Race [part 4]

Airi's POV

That was it. Even and in my wildest dreams I couldn't imagine competing in the Sports Festival. I mean, all of the things that happened lately are CRAZY.  ME AND MY BEST FRIEND WOKE UP A   ND THE TIME WAS STOPPED AND THEN WE ENTERED A PORTAL AND WE ENDED UP HERE AND NOW WE ARE COMPETING IN THE SPORTS FESTIVAL. It almost doesn't  feel real.

While I was thinking that i didn't really pay attention to what I was doing and yet somehow I ended up second, behind Kenzui.

"ARE THOSE THE ZERO POINT ROBOTS FROM THE ENTRANCE EXAM?" I heard.

We where at the first part of the race. I have watched my hero academia more than a thousand times so I knew by heart what was going to happen.

And as if someone heard my thoughts, Todoroki froze the robots.

"Here goes Todoroki" I swear I heard Kenzui say.

I run as fast as i could casting a spell to help me run even faster.

Kenzui was right behind me. She was probably using a super speed quirk to run that fast. In the distant I saw the ropes that we had to walk through.

When I got there, I immediately waited for Kenzui to come, since it wasn't our goal to win the Obstacle Race or the Sports Festival. We won't let the timeline change.

I saw her running towards me, assuming that she was going to stop. And she did, at first.

[Kenzui]: Oi! Is everything going as planned?

[Airi]: Yeah, so far. UNLESS YOU DO ANYTHING DUMB.

[Kenzui]: Seriously?

[Airi]: Let's hide in a bush for now, so the cameras won't see us.

And that's what we did. There were a lot of bushes nearby and we could also become invisible we were okay for the time being.

Other competitors came and we waited for them to pass.

[Kenzui]: Ugh, this so boring. 

[Airi]: What do you mean?

[Kenzui]: I want to go there beat their asses. 

[Airi]: Same here, but, we can't.

Kenzui stayed silent after that for a couple of minutes. But she couldn't handle it. I knew she wanted to win the match, that's the reason she was excited about the Sports Festival. Why would anybody let others win THE Sports Festival even if the have the skills and the quirk they need?

[Kenzui]: Screw it.

[Airi]: What? What was tha-

[Kenzui]: See ya at the end of the match!

[Airi]: WAIT WHAT?

And just like that, she left me, using the invisibility quirk so I couldn't find her.

Then, the plans changed because of Kenzui. I GOT REALLY PISSED OFF. So damn pissed, that I had no option but to catch her. I used the invisibility spell too so she wouldn't see me. I also casted a spell of thermal vision. 

Everyone had left and went to the last stage of the match, leaving us behind. Luckily, the cameras didn't see us. After a while of trying to find her I finally spotted her, floating in the air, trying to slow down people with explosions.

"What do I do now?" I thought. "Should I catch her or pass her?" It's not like she's going to listen to me anyway, so I guess, I am just gonna go."

I removed the invisibility spell and decided to cast a spell to make myself fly, to pass everyone quickly. It was kinda hard though because it was my first time flying and the explosions Kenzui caused made it even harder. I SWEAR SHE THREW MOST OF THE EXPLOSIONS AT ME! 

[Kenzui]: Well, well, Airi! I see you came to find me.

[Airi]: Not at all. I came here to win.

[Kenzui]: Huh? We'll see about THAT!

And then, we raced till we saw Bakugo, Todoroki and Izuku. Bakugo and Todoroki chased Izuku like crazy maniacs. Poor guy.

We followed them as fast as we could.

The three boys were meters away from us. We were just the five of us, speeding ourselves towards the ending line. For me, it was terrifying. Anxiety then came and my speed decreased. Kenzui was just about to pass me.

I didn't want to be in the 5th place. I wanted to be in the top 3. I wanted to become the number 1, so I couldn't just let that chance go to waste.

I remembered what I Aizawa said.

One chance a year,

Three chances in a lifetime.

Exactly. It was my only chance.

[Airi]: YOU'RE NOT GOING AWAY THAT EASILY IWASAKI!

I blasted the whole area with my wand and the explosion that I made, caused me to go far away from Kenzui. In the top 4.

[Present Mic]: And there we have, wait! Is that Airi from Class 1-A? Come on man! No one from the other classes! *cough* Everyone! Airi Michiko from Class 1-A in the top 4 heading straight for the ending line! She gave it all right Eraser Head?

[Aizawa]: Yeah.

Kenzui's POV:

Did she just- I can still win this, right? But what if she plans to break the timeline? What if she got that mad? I don't want to lose against Airi. But, I don't have any energy left. I spent all on goofing around.

And that's when it hit me.

[Present Mic]: AND THE FIRST PERSON THAT PASSED THE OBSTACLE RACE IIIISS! IZUKU MIDORIYA!

Yeah, there's no way I am going to win now.

[Airi]: Gosh, that was sure tiring.

[Uraraka]: I agree. I barely even mad it!

All the Class 1-A gathered at a place and they talked while I was laying and punching the ground.

[Kenzui]: ARGHHH!! I COULD HAVE WON THIS STUPID MATCH. I COULD HAVE BEEN THE ONE! AT LEAST, I COULD HAVE PASSED AIRI!

She ignored me, which meant I was just raging badly. If you think about it, you will notice that before sprinting and ending up in the 4th place, she knew that she couldn't mess up the timeline. In the end, she didn't as she promised herself.
