I watched as Arlo darted through the trees, using my spy crows to keep an eye on the wolf. Watching him develop into his own person was certainly an interesting process, but he had me there to guide him. The other wolves in the forest were totally willing to help Arlo get used to his new animal attributes. That had certainly been interesting. He was now finding it easier to shift between his forms and had even managed to hide his wolf and appear human, which may be useful if we ever go back to the human world. We certainly won't be doing that for a while though. The very thought of going back seemed to put Arlo on edge. I don't blame him, that place was nothing but cruel to him. Speaking of, he was starting to get back to the new house. We ended up moving out of the Shadow Realm, it simply wasn't a good environment for him, plus Shadow Demons didn't like other people in their territory. Now we lived in the forest near a Wolf Born pack and close enough to the new Draconian Kingdom that we were safe from most threats. There were others who lived nearby but they were friendly enough and didn't bother us much. I heard his heartbeat as he got closer and my crows disappeared. I heard him shift back into his semi-human form before he came inside, immediately coming over to me and flopping over onto my chest. He snuggled in closer and I hummed.
"How was your run?" I asked and he yawned.
"It was good, tired though," he muttered and I laughed.
"Well then, how bout we get some sleep then dear?" I asked and scooped him up into my arms, carrying him to our bedroom. We fell onto the bed together and he yelped.
"Watch it! You're heavy!" he complained and I stuck my tongue out at him before rolling over and laying on my back. It wasn't long before Arlo settled down against my side and hummed. I summoned a blanket over us and wrapped my arm around him. Gently tucking his head into my neck he muttered a goodnight before promptly falling asleep. I swear this boy could pass out on command. I nuzzled the top of his head and sighed, this was the life. I just adore him. Closing my eyes I allowed myself to relax, melting against his body and humming. A soft tune I remember from my pup-hood. With a soft smile and I curled around him, tail wrapping around his body and cradling him close. This was a sort of peace I could tolerate.~~~~~~
