I woke up to feel the soft warmth of Johns's body. I kept my eyes closed not wanting to move. I felt him start to wake up below me and I huffed.
"C'mon Arlo, we gotta get up. I don't know about you but I'm hungry." Oh, that's right. He didn't eat yesterday. I was also rather hungry. I sighed and reluctantly got up. He crawled out of the cave and I followed him. "Stay here love." He said and I frowned.
"But... I wanna come..." I said quietly and he sighed.
"Arlo, I need you to stay here. Please?" I frowned and nodded, still wanting to go with him. He smiled. "Good, I'll be back soon with food." I watched him leave the small clearing. I frowned and sat down, my tail resting at my side. I waited quietly for him to come back. It was way to loud here. My ears could pick up every single sound around me. I could hear the leaves rustling in the wind. I heard every snap or crack of animals stepping on sticks. It was really loud and without John around I didn't know what anything was. I growled softly glancing around the small clearing. After what seemed like an eternity John finally came back. I jumped up in excitement and ran towards him. He had another one of those creatures slung over his shoulder. "Ok, so Arlo this is called a deer. It's usually used for food." I nodded and he put it down. He sat down next to it and I sat next to him. He pulled off one of the deer's legs and started eating it. I copied him, quickly ripping one of the legs off. The meat from the deer was absolutely amazing. The two of us quickly ate through the whole deer, including the bones which John crunched through with no problem, I couldn't bite through it though so I'm not too sure how he did it.
I hummed looking up at the clear blue sky. John had spent most of the day teaching me about all the things I needed to know about the forest. This including colors, animals, plants, what was and wasn't safe to eat. He also taught me about this thing called love. He told me about how when you're in love you always want to be around that person. You want to spend all of your time just looking at them. You want them to notice you, to love you back. When two people are in love they will kiss, like we do, and hold hands and stuff. He also mentioned something called sex but he didn't tell me anything about that. I smiled feeling the sunshine down on my face. My ear twitched as I heard John call my name.
"Hey, cutie." He said plopping down in the grass next to me. I looked over at him and smiled.
"Hey..."  I said. My voice was almost completely back to normal but it still hurt a bit to talk. I rolled over so my head was in his lap and I could look up at him. He was so perfect it was unfair. He started running his fingers through my hair and I smiled looking up at him. It was such a perfect moment. I hope it stays like this forever. I thought for a moment. "John..."
      "Yeah?"
"I think I love you," I said quietly. Black spread across his face. He had told me that demon blood was black so I think he was blushing.
"Really?" He asked looking down at me. I nodded staring up into his eyes. He leaned down and kissed me. I closed my eyes and kissed back. He pulled away a bit and looked into my eyes. I hummed gazing up at him. I looked up as the sky started to get darker, it turned to an orange and yellow color. I sat up and watched the sky, my eyes wide.
"Woah..." It was beautiful. The sky faded from yellow to red and then to a dark blue. I couldn't help but smile looking up at the sky. It was filled with little lights, they seemed to glow in the darkness.
"Those are stars," John whispered in my ear. I smiled leaning back against his chest. "And that," He pointed at what looked like a huge glowing rock in the sky, "is the moon." My eyes widened looking at it. My tail starts to wag, it was so big. I wanted to catch it! I threw back my head and howled. My ears twitched as I heard something howling in response. I looked over my shoulder at John who was smiling. I gave him a closed-eyed smile. I felt his lips against my own, his familiar soft lips. I smiled into the kiss and pulled him closer to me. He slung his arms around my waist as I wrapped my arms around his neck. I pulled back and smiled at him. I don't think I've ever been this happy. He kissed my nose and pointed up. "Look." He said quietly and I looked up. Dancing across the sky were gorgeous blue, green, and purple lights. There was also some pink, red, and orange mixed into it.
"It's so pretty!" I said smiling. I heard him chuckle quietly.
"They're called the northern lights. They are pretty aren't they." I looked over at him, but he wasn't looking at the lights. He was looking at me. I smiled at him, he looked pretty too. His longish black hair, pale skin, hypnotic eyes. He was perfect. Even his horns, claws, tail, all of it! It was perfect! I love him. There's not a doubt in my mind about that. He leaned over and kissed my nose. "They might be pretty," he whispered, "but you're prettier." I felt my face heat up at his words. He smiled and pulled me into his arms. We watched the lights together, simply enjoying the other's presence. God, I hope we can stay like this forever. I feel my body starting to get heavy. I leaned back against his chest. "You tired?" He asked and I nodded.
"Just a little," I muttered and he chuckled. I felt him pull me back and I fell back against his chest. We were lying on our backs looking up at the stars. I let my eyes close, knowing he was here. With him I was safe, I know he wouldn't let anything hurt me. Even with all the sounds in the night, I found it easy to fall asleep here in his arms.
