Grace's back felt like it had been burned. It felt like hot lava just stung acrossed her back, but her neck hurt too. Maybe she'd broken it? No. She realized the feeling immediately. She had whiplash. She didn't know how considering she just fell, except she was still falling, but not fast, slow. Something was gracefully pulling her down.
She turned her head slightly, the pain coursed through her body. She got the glimpse of a bird, the robin. But she could've sworn it was the boy who pulled her down.
Her body hit the ground, her back in searing pain. She was sure she yelped, showing the boy that he had hurt her. Almost immediately afterwards a girl, about 16, blonde hair, blue eyes, came rushing forward. Shouting at the boy, clearly upset, but Grace was in too much pain to listen to the words. She did hear the names, Ethan, and Leeann. The people from her dream? Or was it a dream? Grace wasn't sure of anything anymore. Just that this could be the last moments of her life. The blonde girl came up to me, and knelt. Pressing her hands against my neck, probably feeling for a pulse. She grabbed out her bag and pulled out some sort of tool that I had never seen before. It was almost like a cross between a hammer, and a I.V. The girl and the boy turned me over, and then my back went numb. They turned me back over so I could see them, and then the hammer/I.V. hit my neck, causing this to go numb too.
I could barely open my eyes, but I could see the panic the girls eyes. This was the first time I could really, truly, get a good look at her.
She was 16, most definitely, I was sure of this now. But her eyes sagged like she was 50. Her arms had bigger muscles than my brother, and she looked like a fighter. Yet, her eyes had a calm feel. Like just looking at them would make me get better. I managed to say, "Who are you?" But when the replied, their words came out mumbled and distorted. I heard the blonde say, "It's worse than we thought. Not even my powers can heal her. We need to get her to a hospital, now."
The boy, wasn't pleased. "No, we can't. Her Majesty wanted us, and us alone to do this quest. She specifically said no help, not even from the hospital."
"She could die!"
"Well use your healing powers, or something!"
Healing powers? Did she hear this wrong? Maybe this girl was a doctor. Or maybe... No, this was not possible. This girl had to be a doctor, no other way possible.
She could barely shake off what the young boy said, but then the girl mumbled something too him like, "Go get some water. I can turn it into sap."
Sap? What was that? Like tree sap or something? I hated when that stuff got on my clothes from the sycamore tree.
The boy nodded, and turned into the robin that had been by my arm, only moments before. Then he flew off.
Wait. The boy was a robin? She had heard about people with special powers. They were apart of that organization, B2TC. Her father said he was apart of it, but she never believed him. Yet, here she was. With a boy who could turn into a bird, and a girl with healing powers. If they wanted anything to do with her, that would mean she would have powers too. But she knew that she didn't have any.
She tried to fly, that went horribly wrong.
She tried to come up with a prophecy, nope, not her specialty.
The only thing she could manage to do, was be invisible. Nobody at school, the town, not even her own brother seemed to realize she was there. Maybe that was her power? Or maybe they just ignored her. The second answer seemed much more reasonable. The robin boy came back with a pouch in his hand, overflowing with water. He handed it to the girl, and she said a few words, and the water turned pink. The girl scooted closer to Grace, and started pouring it into my mouth. At first the liquid was sour, but then it turned sweet. It reminded her of the warm summer day when she was younger, those were the best days of her life. And now, she was 16. In a California tropical forest, with two absolute strangers.
She thought about her mother. She would be so worried. I hope she's ok. She was the only person in the world she had left, and not even a bird boy and a doctor girl, could stop her from getting back to her mother.
"I've got to get back to my mother." I said, running out of breath. But that sap stuff was making her feel better.
"Sorry, no can do. You have been selected by Her Majesty to lead us on a quest to find the 5 keys. Oh, by the way, I'm Ethan." Said bird boy.
"Who is this 'Her Majesty' anyway? I've never heard of her. Besides, I could care less about 5 keys."
"Oh no, we got a feisty one." Said the girl.
I got up, and began walking. I didn't know where I was going, but anywhere was better than with bird boy and doctor girl. Then I heard a voice in my head, saying, "Stay with them. Their names are Ethan, and Leeann. They will protect you. This is the only way this Country can go back to the way it once was."
"Who are you?!" I said out loud. Ethan and Leeann looked at me like I was insane. I was actually, I was insane, no better way to put it. I was hearing voices in my head, seeing things, and now I was here, hundreds of miles away from my home.
"Wow, my life is messed up."
