A cold chill ran up Taylor's spine, awakening her. She sat up in bed, taking a minute to realize where she was. Her head was woozy and there was a sharp pain in her side. Taylor looked around and saw that she was home in her own bed, which is strange because she didn't remember coming home. She started to get up and fell to the ground, she couldn't seem to stand. Pushing herself onto her knees and using the bed frame for support, she tried again. Slowly she rose to her feet, her legs wobbling uncontrollably. She stood there grasping her bed for a while, until she thought she could walk on her own. Steadily she made her way into the kitchen to get a glass of water.

She noticed that the house was unusually silent. On most mornings the TV was cranked full-blast and her mom and dad could be heard all through the house talking about bills, their horses, etc. But today there was no sound, just the usual ticking of the large grandfather clock in the living room. Taylor grabbed a glass out of a cabinet and began to fill it with water. She took a few sips, and noticed something strange, she couldn't taste anything. Now there is no particular taste to water, but she could taste nothing.

Setting down the glass of water, she decided to go see where everyone was. She walked into the living room and looked around, no one was there. The TV wasn't even turned on, which is strange in her house. Next she decided to check the driveway, to see if her parents were gone. She opened her front door and looked out, her parents car was there. By now completely confused, she decided to go upstairs to her parents room. Slowly and quietly walking down the hall, she came to her parents door, which was slightly cracked.

She peered in to see if her parents were sleeping. She saw her mother laying on the bed, slightly quivering, and next to her she saw her father rubbing her arm. "Don't worry Katherine, everything will be ok." He said in a weak voice. Her mother said nothing, but Taylor could hear her sniffling and suspected that she was crying. Taylor opened the door slowly. Her father looked up and stared at her with a painful look in his eyes, it seemed to Taylor that he was staring through her.

After a while he looked back at his wife, "I can call off work if you want me to honey." He said gently. "No, no you need to go to work. We're going to need the money." Katherine said slightly turning her head to look at her husband.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah I'll be ok." She gave a faint smile.

With a heavy sign Tyler rose off the bed. "Ok, but I'll be back home as soon as I can, I promise." Katherine gave a small nod then returned her head to the pillow.

Tyler walked out of the room, Taylor moved so he wouldn't run into her. She then followed him downstairs. "Hey, dad, what's wrong with mom?" She asked walking down the stairs. He didn't answer. "Dad. Hey, Dad!!!" Taylor spoke louder. He still didn't answer. She reached out and touched his shoulder as they came to the base of the stairs. He paused for a moment then turned his head to look behind him. After a moment he continued walking. Taylor was confused, why was her dad ignoring her? Why was her mom so upset? What did they need extra money for?

As Taylor tried to piece everything together, she decided that her father was going to be of no help, so she left him alone. She went into the living room to watch TV. She turned on the television to ABC Family to watch Pretty Little Liars. She sat back and started watching the show. Her dad, who was in the middle of putting on his coat, looked around surprised. He walked into the living room, grabbed the remote from the table, and turned off the TV. "Hey!!! What are you doing I was watching that!" Taylor said sitting straight up. Her dad walked away, put on his coat, and was out the door. It was like he didn't even hear her.
