As I am waiting for the luggage I get a call from Kai. I pick it up at the third ring as it was stuffed inside my backpack.
And my backpack is a very important thing that I carry. It has all my stuff, all of it. Its my mini baggage.
"Hola! look behind you", he practically hollers.
As I turn to spot him, I squeal at the sight of the person and waste no time jumping into her arms.
"Why didn't you tell me Ari was here? wait I know. surprise surprise!" I say hugging Kai after I hugged Ariadne.
"yep surprise surprise, Ash.' Ariadne says flashing me a megawatt grin. I smile back and waste no time hugging her again.
By the time I pull back, I see Kai bringing my baggage, he can be helpful. sometimes.
We all get in the car Ari getting in the driver's seat, Kai getting in the back and I beside Ariadne and head for my flat. It took a lot of persuasion to get Ariadne to agree into going to my place first as I needed to pick some documents and books. We decided to stay at Ariadne's place.
And by we, I mean Kai and me, the legendary Ash Zachary. I have an apartment here in London but Kai doesn't. Also, did I forget to mention that Ariadne is a film producer, so she has villas, apartments almost all over the world.
"I'm making your favourite sizzler tonight. you're gonna love it." Ariadne says smiling at me while having full control of the wheel.
"Well, if I haven't told you how much I love here it is," I say spreading my arms as wide as I can, also temporarily blocking Ariadne's view. She swats my hand away immediately.
"You phsycho, you can be all affections and squeals when we get home. Don't try any stunts here." Kai scolds me like I'm his little sister.
No! he's my little brother.
As we reached my flat, I hop out of the car and sprint tomy flat. I lived in one of the flats by Manor Park Road so the ride was about just forty minutes. Now the next would take about an hour considering the traffic. Ariadne had a place in South Kensington

It's just as I left it. No changes. Same Everything. Light entering through the large glass panes that I got fitted only this summer. I thought I'd stay here for some time more but gotta do what we gotta do. It was my dream.to become a pilot. You know pilot's travel a lot. That's whatI wanted, instead i had to get a job to afford the CPL training. It took a lot of years to reach where Iam right now.
"Finally" I breath out. I know this is goodbye here. I had already packed everything and shipped out to Cairns a month ago. It was just my books and documentation of the lease that got left behind.
I grab my my already packed books and documents from the cupboard and head back to the car but not before taking in the beautiful place I'm leaving behind.
We reach Ariadne's place by lunch time. While having lunch I bring up the sale of my flat.
"I put up my flat for sale." I get two complete different reactions from the people sitting across me on the dining table.
"Why? Why would you do it? I could get a nice vacation place here when you're not around" Kai says smirking but now unhappy that I ruined his 'free vacay spot'.
"You don't know it beacuse you didn't come home on that weekend, remember?" I say in a flat tone.
"What has this got to do with 'that weekend'?" He asks now genuinely curious.
"Will someone tell me what's going on?" He inquires again.
"Ash moved all of her stuff back to cairns so she could move it from there to wherever her new job placed her." Ariadne updated the oblivious Kai who seemed to be taking in just fine.
"Right. So finally captain." He adds saluting me in the process.
"Not quite close to captain but yeah". I reply raising my glass of water.
"To Ash's new life." Ariadne says raising her glass too. At this we all raise our glasses.
*clink clink*
I'm quite nervous of the new things but that's what I wanted all my life and now I'm finally going to get it.
I was leaving for a solid two months to complete my remaining training, then I will be off in search of the new job. But before that I will be going to India for Holi. That's kind of our family vacation before everyone gets back into their routines.
"Hey mom, did Ana tell you about how she tortured me?" I say walking into the kitchen, describing Ana's constant pestering.
"Ash honey that wasn't torture. She just wants you to get settled." She said defending Ana as always. Expected.
"Yeah but settled in my words is satisfied with my life and to remind you I don't think marriage qualifies as settling." I say quoting the settling part with my fingers.
"Where is Kai?". I ask at the sudden absence of a constant nagging.
"He told me that he was tired so he's gonna be sleeping all evening and the night." She tells me.
"Hmm good." I reply while in deep thought.
"You know that ultimately I'm going to do what seems fit for me right?" I ask her with a satisfied expression.
"That is something I've been telling Ana too. You're same as her. She does what she thinks worth her time is and you too. You're both quite stubborn if you ask me." She says revealing that she considered my view too.
"Right and I absolutely loved the sizzler. Thanks and I'll be skipping Dinner too. You know cause it was already so late for us to call it lunch and don't know if I can fit something in here." I say pointing towards my tummy.
"Sure, but if you feel like eating something there's leftovers in the fridge." She concludes with a smile.
That damn smile. A mother's smile was just the kindest and purest form of smile in the world.
Tomorrow morning is my flight. Now isn't the time that I could back out.
The new life awaits.
