When we reached Ana's birthplace, we were welcomed by my grams and my uncle. Mom has a brother. All of us had a garland around our necks when we sat in the living room.

Uncle was unmarried and had decided to stay a bachelor. Gramps passed away a few years back so it was just my grams and uncle now.

"So what are the plans this year?" I excitedly ask no one in particular.

"I want to know too.", Kai adds.

"This year we have decided on a different theme than the previous ones. Invited some friends and lots of food." Uncle Dev answers smiling.

As we were talking, grams' helper came in with juice and snacks.

"Hmm, when will everyone be here?" I ask popping some of the food in my mouth.

"We haven't been here for an hour and you're already on the interrogation part,"  Ariadne says giving me a look to be on my best behaviour.

No chill, jeez.

Joe, who had been silent all this time smirked in my direction. He heard what Ari said.

"And who is this young man?" Grams asked pointing towards Joe.

"He's a nobody gram, ignore him, not much of a deal." This time a got a look not just from Ari but Ana and Joe as well.

Come on Joe. Do better than that. You're on team Mom now. I knew you had a spirit of an old lady.

"A friend Ma.", Ana replied.

Friend? Wow didn't know. When did he become my family's friend? Huh

"Alright, kids go freshen up and meet us in the backyard by evening.", Ana said.

"Everyone will be here by then. I'll make the introductions then.", Dev added.

Kai and I saluted like soldiers and dispersed with our luggage to our rooms. Our rooms were on the first floor (ground and first were the floors of the house).

As we started ascending the stairs, I heard Joe say
"Hey, Kai can you point me to my room?", Scratching his neck.

I quickly turn with my luggage towards my room and started galloping. As I looked behind I saw Kai's horrified expression that said 'what are you'

"No way I'm sharing a room with that thing." I shout back referring to Joe.

It was an unspoken rule here, whoever brings guests has to share the room with them. Since we were having other guests over too it wouldn't be possible to give everyone their room.

This my friend, is how Joe ended being in Kai's room and I, a free bird.

I was gasping for air as I reached my room. I had to be faster than wind to beat Kai and now as a victor, I'm extremely proud of myself.

I had enough time to get some sleep and a shower. First I showered and then decided on some sleep. I was really tired because of all the travel.

Headache was killing me. I had to be sane enough to deal with the people we were going to meet in the evening.

As I lay on the bed, I connected my phone to the charger and closed my eyes for the sleep to kick in.

I woke up to the sound of my alarm. I set I for six pm. Now I had approximately thirty minutes to get dressed for the evening.

What is Dev planning?
