lee taeyong watched with great interest as the dark-haired girl made her way through the lecture hall. her large eyes blinked softly as she scanned the room for a place to sit.

taeyong looked up at the dark red clock in the corner of the room that displayed the time. she was late by 15 minutes today, a new record for the girl. usually someone was kind enough to move aside a backpack and offer her a seat but today the class seemed to be full with no extra seats for backpacks to rest on.

she sighed, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear and taeyong admired the way the blunt bob sat against her jaw.

cho eunjung was undeniably pretty, with bright eyes, a soft nose and pink lips. she also dressed in an attractive enough manner that both girls and boys alike at their college studied her fashion in an attempt to replicate it.

it wasn't like taeyong had been actively searching for the girl, because in all honesty, he hadn't been. from the moment she'd mentioned a lee taeyong in their messages, he'd been taken back. there were plenty of girls in his class though, and taeyong wasn't very interested in becoming friends or more with a girl he'd never met.

then came the talk of jaehyun having a crush on her. jeong jaehyun, taeyong's friend of nearly seven years, who had fervently described to taeyong several times the hold a certain girl in one of his classes held on him.

taeyong cursed himself for not bothering to ask jaehyun for a name.

now he was stuck with a girl that he'd lied to who he texted with everyday, a heartbroken friend who was in love with said girl, and his own inextricable feelings.

he watched as some guy jumped up from his seat, offering it to eun. she shook her head in a firm no but the kid insisted and eventually she bowed her head in thanks and took her seat, rummaging through her backpack for her laptop.

cho eunjung was popular, taeyong had realized. it was important to note that it wasn't in the way that taeyong and his friends were popular. they didn't part in the hallways for her and she didn't have gaggles of underclassmen chasing her around campus, but she did have many admirers while keeping a low profile.

as the professor began to drone on in his monotone lecturing voice, taeyong found his eyes constantly wandering to look at eun. she typed away on her computer, taking notes at a much faster rate than anyone else in the class.

taeyong looked down at his own blank document and released a sigh. he'd have to make jaehyun share notes with him again.

his eyes trailed over to jaehyun whose eyes were boring into the back of eun's head, expression sad.

taeyong leaned back in his seat, lifting his arms to stretch his limbs. one of his pens dropped to the floor and he lethargically moved to reach for it, bending over in his seat.

when he glanced up, pen in hand, he'd heard the shuffling of feet and the murmurs of students. he looked to the door just in time to see a girl running out of it, gripping her bag and laptop.

he glanced over at the empty seat a few rows in front of him.

eun was gone.
