Chapter One

„Oh my gosh, that sounds horrible!“ - „I know, right?“

Talking about first dates is always fun. Especially when they went really horrible.

„And then he asked if i wanted to come to his place. To get a late night drink. And I was like: Yeeeah, not gonna happen.“ We laughed.

I was at the park with my best friends. Katy had been talking and Sara and Amy had been laughing along with me.

„He said he was gonna call me. But I don’t think I’m actually gonna go out with him again.“, Katy continued. „You go through guys as other people go through underwear!“ I stated bluntly. We all laughed and Katy tried to defend herself. „There’s really only idiots asking me out!“ „Well maybe you should stop meeting guys in shady bars then.“ She stuck out her tongue at me.

It was a really nice late summer day and we enjoyed the last sun rays before the fall was coming. I wore some skinny jeans and a light blouse. Earlier i had taken off my jacket because it has actually gotten warm during day. I was facing the sun with my eyes closed enjoying the sun for a while until I heard Sara say my name.

„Do what?“ I asked, not really having paid attention to their conversation. „Have you been out with anybody lately?“, she asked and all three of them looked at me. „Oh no.. No i haven’t.“ i said. „Didn’t Kyle ask you out?“ Amy wanted to know. „Yeah, i guess he did. He’s just not my type.“ „How could Kyle not be your type? He’s such a nice guy..“ „That’s it. He’s a nice guy.“ „Somebody’s going for the bad boys.“ Katy mocked me. I laughed it off and looked back at the sun.

They continued their conversation and my thoughts drifted off as I was looking around the park. Some kids were playing soccer and families were having picnics. There were barely people our age here. There never were. That’s why we all liked this park so much. It was nice and big. Enough room for everybody. And us four girls had a nice place to chat away and dish the dirt on whoever we wanted to.

As I looked over my shoulder I noticed two guys sitting by each other. The must have been around our age that’s why they caught my eye. Both of them wore sunglasses and the one sitting on the right had a beanie on his head while the other one had his hood up and the hoodie tied weirdly in the front. I didn’t get it.

„Not bad, huh?“ Sara smiled at me. „Huh? What?“ I was confused. „The boys!“, she said. „Oh, well I guess not. If you like that hipster type of boy.. I mean look at his hoodie. Isn’t that just odd?“ She shrugged. „Maybe they’re not from here.“

„Hey, you should go talk to them!“ Amy suggested looking at Sara. We all had been staring at the two boys for some time and i started feeling bad for them. Hopefully they didn’t notice our glares.

„Why me?“ Sara asked. „You go talk to them!“ „No.. Katy you go!“ Katy’s eyes widend. „No. Not me! Hannah, you go!“ I frowned. It was always me. For some reason my friends happend to be scared to death to talk to random people. „I don’t get it. What do you think is gonna happen? You’re never gonna the those two again. Might as well go talk to them-“ Katy cut me off mid sentence. „Enough with your lecture, we know it. Just go!“ „Jeez, alright..“ I mutered and got up.

„And lighten up!“, Sara called after me „They’re not gonna like you being all grumpy.“ „Like I would mind. I’m only getting their numbers for y’all anyways.“

As I was getting closer to the guys the one with the beanie looked up at me and then nuged the other one.

„Hey guys!“ I greeted with the friendliest smile I could come up with. „Mind if I sit?“ They looked at each other and seemed a little confused. „Go ahead“ the beanie-boy said after a little while. So i sat and looked at them. The one on the right had brown hair. His expression was a little confused and he just stared at me like he was waiting for me do flip out or something. The otherone’s hair was of a lighter color, more of a blonde.. At least the part I could see with him wearing the hoodie. He looked at me friendly but with the same awaiting expression the other had on his face as well.
