Ch.1 Oh no

Chapter1:
Ugh. It was 6:30 am and my mom had woke me up again. I didn't have to get to school until 9:00! This could only mean bad news.

"Get out of bed. We need to talk. Be downstairs in 10." I slowly got out of bed. Using all the energy I had. I'm not a morning person. I took a quick shower and slipped on my favourite pair of jeans and my new sweater. I sulked down the stairs and find both my parents sitting at the dinner table together. I sit down quickly. It looked like they had been waiting ages for me! I knew something was up but I couldn't quite figure it out.

My dad cleared his throat. "Courtney. Look. Your mom and I both love you dearly." He looked like he was choking back tears. "But sometimes parents drift apart and stop loving each other" I looked over at my mother. She looked beat. She had black rings under her eyes and she looked exhausted. "Mom." I managed to say through the tears that suddenly sprung from my eyes. "Court. I know this is really hard but there is a up side to this." I looked at her like she was crazy. My parents were getting a divorce. How can there be anything good that can come out of this. I couldn't take it anymore.

I ran up the stairs and slammed the door. I flopped onto my bed and let the tears come. I heard a knock on the door. "Sweetheart. Can I come in please?" My dad said. I didn't answer. I heard the door quietly open. And then I felt my dad sitting on my bed.

"Daddy!" I leapt into his arms and just starting bawling. I could feel him sobbing too. "Courtney I love you. I hope you know that." "I do I do." I said. He released me. "Look at me" he said. "I need you to be strong. I've talked to your mom and we think the best thing for you is to move to California with her until we get the divorce papers worked out." I felt the tears coming back again. I held them in. I couldn't cry. It was what he wanted. "Daddy I'm gonna miss you" I said. We hugged and I watched him climb into his car and drive down the street. That was the last time I ever saw him.
