Before we get started I would just like to say and give a heads up that a book titled Blood Bound gave me inspiration to write this and is loosely based on it. I hope you like it!

Success: the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.

A very thin line comes between success and failure. People crave success. Some are so hungry for it that they would do absolutely anything to achieve it. William was one of those people. He had worked hard to take his business from rock bottom all the way to the very top, becoming one of the most important, influential companies in the world. He had success in his work, in his everyday life, and especially women. But there was one woman that would come in and change that. All of it.

Ashley stood in front of the mirror, flattening her hands across her pencil skirt. Today was the day her life was going to change for the better. She was going to change for the better.

She walked into the crowded New York streets and felt the cool breeze of fall. Goosebumps formed on her arms and she let out a long sigh. She was beyond nervous for her interview that she just needed to nail. There was no way she could continue working at that shithole Harvey's where she had to wear short shorts and a shirt that showed a little too much. She bit the inside of her cheek as she neared the building.

It towered high into the sky and above the main doors it read, "NorthWater Corp.". She stood in front of the wide doors and stared in.

"This is going to be good. I'm going to do just fine. This is fine." She thought, easing herself.

She then opened the doors and walked into the luxurious lobby. It was quite large, the floors were a sleek white tile and the tall walls were white with one black accent wall. Her heels clicked as she walked and she suddenly felt a rush of confidence shoot through her. Ashely reached the reception area and looked down at the person sitting at the desk. He had dark blonde hair that was styled and had a pair of piercing green eyes.

"Hi there! How can I help you?" His voice was smooth and just a bit energetic.

"Hi. I'm here for an interview with William Miller?"

"Ah yes. Go to the top floor, sweets. Check in with the receptionist up there and you will be all set."

"Thank you." She said calmly. Him calling her "sweets" didn't bother Ashley at all. In fact she was used to it. She was a waitress at a hole in the wall and had drunk or even sober men cat-calling her 24/7.

She turned and made her way to the elevator and waited the long trip up. Her mind began to wander and nervous thoughts kicked in.

"Breath Ashley, Breath." Once she got to the top floor she let out a breath and walked straight to reception just like the man told her to. But no one was at the desk. She looked down and around the desk searching for something to indicate where the person was but she found nothing. She raked a hand through her thick blonde hair.

"Well that's just fantastic! I thought I was early but I guess not. What am I going to do now?" She rubbed her temples and let out a breath of air.

"Do you always talk to yourself when things don't go your way?" A deep voice behind her echoed through the large lobby.

"Oh my god!" She quickly turned around and felt her soul leave her body. Her heart was racing and she was lucky she didn't fall and land on her ass or do something embarrassing. "Do you always sneak up on people and scare the living crap out of them?"

The deep voice came from the tall man in front of her. His dark hair was combed and styled and his face appeared to be sculpted by gods. He let out a soft chuckle and walked up to her.

"She's currently out right now. Do you need something?"

Ashley stared at him. Examining his sharp features and dark eyes. Her eyes looked at the expensive suit he was wearing and she attempted to put two and two together.

"Uh yes? Are you Mr. Miller?" She questioned.

He raised a brow and looked down at her.

"Yes. Do you need something?" He repeated.

"Im Ashley. I'm here for an interview with you."

He stood there for a minute looking her up and down before looking back to her eyes. "Ah. Follow me." Then he walked past her and to a door which most likely led to his office.

She suddenly felt very self conscious but followed like a lost puppy. When she entered the beautifully designed room, her jaw dropped for a minute. There were floor-to-ceiling windows that looked out over the city and his dark wood desk sat in the middle. On each side there were bookcases that held old looking books. He sat at his chair and looked up at her standing in the doorway.

"Come in here and sit down. I haven't got all day." He commanded.

She nodded and sat in a chair across from him. "Here is my resume." She plastered on a soft smile and handed it to him. He took it and reviewed it for what felt like an eternity. The silence began to grow awkward and she started looking at the old books in the bookcases.

"Do you like reading Miss Aldine?" He spoke breaking her out of her trance. She looked back at him and his raised eyebrow.

"Uh yes sir." She cleared her throat.

He nodded softly and began to speak again, "24, went to Barnard College, and currently works as a waitress at Harvey's." He sighed.

"Oh god, he probably thinks I'm an idiot." She thought. Her cheeks turned a bright shade of red.

"Tell me, what makes you think you can be my personal assistant." He stated in a firm tone.

"Well sir, I have a degree in-"

"Miss Aldine, I have your resume in my hand. If I wanted to know what you had a degree in, I would look. So tell me why do you think you should get this job." His voice was filled with clear irritation. He sighed and turned to look out his giant windows.

"I have potential sir."

"Do you now?"

"Yes. I'm extremely hard working and am down to work day or night. I am also a fast learner and don't talk unless spoken too. I think I would make an excellent fit for this job and if you give me a chance I believe I can prove it to you. Plus I can make a mean margarita." She let out a breath. "Where the hell did that come from?" She thought.

She bit her lip and looked at him. His eyes widened just a bit in shock and he swallowed but he quickly changed back to his cool poker face.

"Ok." He said.

"Ok?" What the hell did that mean? It could literally mean anything; she didn't get the job, she did or even thanks for speaking like a dumbass, a confident dumbass, but alas still a dumbass but you didn't get the job. Sorry.

He cleared his throat. "I believe you can change my mind. So i'm going to give you a chance. Do not make me regret it."

"Yes!" She thought. Or maybe she didn't by the look he was giving her.

"I mean, thank you sir. I really appreciate it and I promise you I won't let you down." She recovered.

"Alright then." He paused, "Come in tomorrow at 7 AM sharp. Don't be late."

"I won't." She smiled and left.

"Time to quit and get my shit together." She laughed.
