Chance: do something by accident or without design.
The chance of you finding your soulmate is slim. The chance of you getting struck by lightning was tiny. But the chance of William killing a girl who had walked in on his darkest secret was huge.

"Please don't." Her voice cracked.
"And why shouldn't I?" His body was almost touching hers. He was so close she could feel his warm breath on her face as he looked down at her. A whimper escaped her as he took a strand of hair in his hand and twirled it. "Hmm? Maybe I should just drink you dry and leave you here. How do you like that?"
She shook her head and a tear fell down her face. Screw dignity. Screw pride. She lost every ounce of that when he said those words.
"Please don't." She said barely above a whisper.
"Oh but it would be so fun! I think it's a brilliant idea, Ashley." He crooked his head down to her neck. She felt his sharp fangs poke against her skin and another tear raced down her face. She didn't know what to do except close her eyes and just accept it. She waited for the pain to come. She waited for her bright light but it never came. His lips gently pressed against her soft skin. When his head came back up he sighed. He didn't look at her. He was ashamed. Why couldn't he have just bit down? He had done with so many others before? What made her different?
"Come walk with me."
"W-what?" She asked, amazed. She was so supposed to be dead. He was supposed to kill her but he didn't. Why the hell did he not bite her?
"Come walk with me. I have some errands to run." He said through gritted teeth.
Her eyebrows scrunched together and she leaned against the wall. She watched as he put on his black overcoat and turned back to her, she wiped away her tears and nodded her head. Mr. Miller walked out and she followed behind him. She tried to stay far enough away but close enough to hear if he had said something, They made their way out of the building and into the crowded streets of New York City. The sun still hadn't risen but it was going to soon.
"Aren't you going to burn when the sun comes up?" She mumbled.
"Yes. But we aren't going to be too long so i'll be just fine." He smiled softly. He was confused and frustrated. He wanted to kill her. He wanted to drink her blood and throw her away and then act like this never happened but he couldn't. He sighed heavily and shook his head. They continued walking until they reached a little coffee shop on the corner, it was run down on the outside but Ashley had recognized it. It was the place she went to when she first moved to New York and had little to no money at times. They walked in and sat a table in the back. Mr. Miller got a cup of black coffee and no sugar while Ashley just got a cappuccino. She sipped on the hot liquid and he stared intently at her.
"Do you need something?" She asked.
"No. Why?"
Some of those burning questions she put on the back burner came back into mind. She wanted to know everything she could about this situation.
She narrowed her eyes. "Can you walk in the sun?"
He cleared his throat, "No not really. I can walk around for a brief period of time but it hurts. And after a while my skin begins to burn and bubble. But I don't turn to ash immediately if that's what you're wondering."
"Ew. So you don't sparkle?"
His eyes widened and he nearly spit out his coffee. "No! I absolutely do not sparkle!"
"Sorry I was just asking." She rolled her eyes. "Do you have any skills?"
"Elaborate."
"Like can you lift a car? Or run really fast." She said intrigued.
