Clay enjoyed his peaceful slumber up until the moment where he was interrupted by the blaring of his alarm. He lowly groaned, hand flailing around the loud object in a lazy attempt to find the snooze button. He sat up in his bed, stretching his arms above his head to shake the sleep off of him.

Despite the abrupt awakening, Clay was in a peppy mood. Specifically due to the smell of pancakes finding their way into his room.

In a rush to get a taste of the delicious smell, he dressed in a fairly regular outfit. It consisted of a black turtleneck without sleeves, fairly dark blue jeans, white converse, and a flannel shirt that was lime green with a hint of white loosely tied around his waist.

He was feeling like accessorizing today, so Clay decided to comb through the mess of his dirty blonde hair, styling it to curl up towards the ends. He threw on a choker and black stud earrings to finalize the look.

Clay grabbed his phone to text his best friend, George. The two were near inseparable, texting practically every hour of the day.

Hey George, how's the new school?

I'm trying to find where the classroom is. Why is this building so big??

Awee, is Gogy having troubles?

No! Shut up you idiot. >:(

I still don't get why you get up so early.

I just don't like people. Nor math, it really should be illegal for math to be the first period.
It's way too early for this. Please send help.

Clay chuckled at his friend's antics. The two had their normal early morning conversation while Clay nearly tumbled down the stairs, managing to catch himself. Despite his efforts to seem smooth, a gentle chuckle came from the kitchen. Clay looked up to see his mother, not even looking at him, and yet she still knew.

Curse mother instincts.

"You didn't see that," Clay tried to salvage his 'coolness.'

His mother rolled her eyes and smiled to herself. "Sure. I made pancakes, how many do you want?"

"Just a few, please. I have to get to school," his mother nodded and slipped two onto a plate, sliding Clay the plate along with the syrup.

Clay scarfed down his breakfast and grabbed a water bottle for the day, thanking his mother and heading out the door. I'm so lucky to have her, he thought, grinning and making his way to school. He had the option to drive but often liked to walk.

Clay adored nature. The birds gently chirping in harmony, the leaves gracefully swaying in the slow breeze, the faint smell of the beach nearby, everything. He loved every speck of it.

He took out his earbuds and switched onto Spotify, the top search being the song he listened to the most. He hit play, turning the volume up and putting on his earbuds, letting his mind drown out as the upbeat song began to sway through his ears.
