Soulmates.

When two people make contact with each other, they are bonded for life. Allowing the two who are bonded see colors. For a Jujitsu sorcerer, it makes each other that much powerful when combined together. That was a dream I longed for, but the reality can change in an instant without knowing. Let me start from the beginning to explain:

As long as I can remember, I was unable to see any colors at all. All I could see back then was black and white. It became frustrating to me. The only thing I dreamed of seeing were colors with the soulmate of my dreams, but I knew it was a fool's dream. Or so I believed. Later on, I began studying in Jujutsu Tech the same year as another named Fushiguro Megumi. While he was stern and serious, Megumi always had a funny side to him when you see it properly.

One day, as I was preparing to go train my Jujutsu techniques, I came across my master Gojou and a strange boy near my training grounds.

"Hey, stranger." I greeted.
"Nice to meet you too, my little apprentice." Gojou said with a smile.
"You know this girl?" the boy asked.
"Itadori, meet Y/N, my apprentice. She'll be your training partner while you're study here."
"Wait. Her?!" Itadori respond with such surprise
"Wait. Him?!" I respond with him in unison.
"Of course. Y/N has already mastered her training. Now, it's time to teach another."
"But Master Gojou, I haven't mastered my domain expansion yet. I'm not ready."
"You're a gifted student." Gojou encourages, "I'm sure you'll be ready. Now don't be mean and be nice to your new student."

Groaning with frustration, I walked right up towards Itadori. Based on his cursed energy flowing within him, he seemed like a normal kid.

"So, welcome to Jujutsu Tech." I greeted with my hand out, expecting a handshake.

Instead of reaching for my hand, he bowed in respect.

"I hope you teach me well, Sensei!"

Blushing with embarrassment, I turned away and walked to my stance.

"So, what are you teaching me?"
"First, let's see how powerful you are. We're going to fight, right here and now."
"Eh?"
"I want to see how strong you are based on your cursed energy."
"Okay."
"Take your stance and make your first move."

Without any hesitation, Itadori ran close towards me and swung. Using all my techniques, I kept dodging his hits. The time he was able to hit me in the face was before he was extremely exhausted from running.

"Close, but you need to focus on your cursed energy levels."

I placed my fingers towards his forehead and flicked my middle finger to his head. Wincing in pain, Itadori passed out, leaving him completely wiped out.

"Not making it easier for the new guy?" A familiar voice called out.

I turned around to see Megumi nearby.

"How he fights determines the type of person for who he is."
"And?"
"There's so much potential for the kid. He just needs to work on his energy level."
"I see."

I walked and talked with Megumi for a bit as I grabbed Itadori on my back and escorted him to the dorm room. When we reached towards Megumi's room,  we both went our separate ways as I went into Itadori's room.

"For a kid, he seems kind of heavy. No wonder his skills are like this."

Suddenly, just when I tossed him to his bed, something started to drag me down on top of him.

"Ow! What the-"

At the exact moment, just when I looked at his tired face, a mysterious aura was filling my entire soul within. This strange power was too strong he could've defeat Gojou if he had the chance. Then, a flicker of black and white and color stared to infuse with my eyesight.

"Wait. No. It can't be..."

However, before I could come to a conclusion, I felt Itadori slowly starting to wake up from his unconscious. As quick as I could, I got up and sat on the side of his bed.

"What happened?"
"I knocked you out and brought you back here."
"Thanks, but why do you look so flustered?"
"I don't look flustered."
"Yeah, you do. Do you have a crush on me or something?"
"As if. Besides, even if I was, you would've known by now."

Itadori looked at me confused.

"Would've known what?"

Realizing what I just said to Itadori, I looked away blushed.

"Never mind."

I cleared my throat as I tried to work things out with what Master Gojou mentioned. If I'm meant to teach this newbie what I've learned, now would be a great time to work on.

"What I meant was... If I did like you, then I would've seen you as my soulmate."
"A soulmate?"
"Jeez, you don't know what a soulmate is?"
"Nope. I don't have a clue."

With a deep breath, I looked back at Itadori to explain.

"Look, you know there's a myth about finding your soulmate if you see each other's eyes for the first time you can see colors?"
"Yeah?"
"It works the same way in the Jujutsu world. However, we get stronger when we meet our soulmates. Both powers are combined as one."
"Really?! That's cool!"
"That being said, there's always a drawback if you or your soulmate dies. It allows you to return back to the colorless life until another life can return."
"So, have you met yours yet?"

I made no comment towards his question. It was a topic I didn't want to talk about with anyone. When he noticed my actions, he realized how painful it was.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to pry."
"No, it's fine. Not every Jujutsu sorcerer finds their soulmates right away. It does take time."

Realizing what I said was true, Itadori thought about it carefully. Not many sorcerers may ever meet their soulmates eventually. With his expression, I touched his shoulder and looked right back at him with a smile.

"I hope you find yours soon."

With a smile returning from his face, he hugged me gently without giving me any warning.

"I hope you do too!" Itadori replied. "Let's find ours together."

Hearing his promise, I started to smile and lightly hugged back.

"Very well. Let's find ours together then."

For a moment, the same flickering feeling of color changing started to infuse in my eyes again. The pain started to hurt so much I backed off from the hug.

"Are you okay?" He asked.
"I'm fine." I lied as I got up from the bed, "now, get some rest. We have training tomorrow."
"Okay. Good night!"
"Good night, Itadori."

I closed the door from his room, went towards mine, locked the door behind me and took deep breaths.

'What's going on?' I asked myself as I went towards my bed, 'This feeling has never happened to me before. I better talk to Master Gojou about this when he comes back from his mission tomorrow. Perhaps he would know anything about this.'

What I didn't expect was that exact moment was about to turn my entire world upside down.
