"I've never done it before." Daniel admits to Hunter.
The blonde scoffed, it didn't take a genius to guess that Middleton's never smoked before.
"God what does Rosie see in you?" He said, more to himself than to Daniel. "Anyways, come with me. We're gonna smoke this."
Daniels heart sank. Not only has he never smoked before, but Hunter scared the absolute living shit out of him. He was pretty much running into the lions den by agreeing to smoke with Hunter.
"Um, I can't. I'm hanging out with Rosie." He said quickly, avoiding eye contact.
"Well in that case you're definitely coming with me." Hunter said with a smirk.
There was no getting out of it for Middleton. Hunter was dead set on getting to know his ex's new boy toy, especially because it was a scrawny summerbird. Hunter liked feeling powerful over Danny, fuck he liked feeling powerful over anyone. It was just a bonus that Dan had the hots for Rosie.
"Cool." Daniel replied calmly. He tried to play it sly but anyone with half a brain could tell he was freaking out.
Hunter nodded his head at Middleton and walked out the door, stealing a pack of cigarettes from the counter before walking to his car.
Daniel locked the cash register and clocked out of his shift. He took a deep breath before leaving the gas station, preparing for the events about to happen.
He walked outside into the hot july heat and took a seat in Hunters passengers seat.
"Rosie's fucked up." Hunter said to Middleton after a few moments of silent driving. "She's deep. You don't wanna get into the sea that is Rosemary Griffin, trust me."
Now Daniel might be a little clueless but he isn't dumb. Not completely. He knew that Hunter was still into Rosie and was most likely saying that as a deterrent to keep him away from the girl.
The difference between him and other boys in town was that Daniel didn't care. He wished he could stay away from Rosie but the attraction was too strong.
Little did Middleton know that his obsession over Griffin would eventually lead to his downfall.
"Seems like you're trying to keep me away from her" Dan said obviously.
"I'm just trying to help you out man." Hunter responded, void of any emotion.
After a few more minutes of anticlimactic driving, Daniel and Hunter reach a quiet park. They walk to the top of a small hill and sit on the bright grass.
"So, tell me about how my sister ended up in your car last night." Hunter said to Daniel while rolling up a joint.
Dan swallowed the lump in his throat and sweat dripped down his forehead. Hunter wasn't exactly known as the warmest person in town. His bluntness definitely took Middleton by surprise.
