"What are you doing here." I resigned, I didn't want to fight about who was who's anymore. At one point I had wanted to be claimed by Sleeper, but now I wasn't so sure.

"I wanted to talk to you." He explained, he stepped into the room more, now closer to my bed in the center. I rolled my eyes and walked towards him, keeping a slight distance from him. After tonight's spectacle, I wasn't sure I wanted a repeat.

He reached for my hand, taking it in a gentle grasp. His skin was rough on my palms, callused and dry but I welcomed the familiar feeling. "Would you like to have dinner with me?"

I let out a laugh, it wasn't what I had been expecting. It was an innocent question, one I don't think I'd ever been properly asked in a long time. Sleeper gave me a look, his cheeks tinted in embarrassment.

"I just wasn't expecting to be asked, We've been on dates before." I explained, placing my hand over my mouth to cover the silly smile I still had. I was pleased he had asked to be honest, it made me feel giddy and wanted. Like my opinions were being put into consideration.

"Pizza at your apartment does not count as a date." He rebutted.

"It totally does!" I countered, I squinted my eyes at him. He could not take away those memories from me, they were too precious. We became friends and then lovers from those dates, I wouldn't have them tarnished by the fact that they weren't at some fancy restaurant.

"Okay, whatever you say." He chuckled, rolling his eyes. "So are you agreein' to a date or no?"

I contemplated, Derek was still clearly in the picture, surprisingly. He wasn't what I had expected at all and I was open to exploring something with him. Sleeper, however, was an entirely different subject altogether. Things hadn't always been easy for us, we both had pasts and it was a major reason we had connected. But he made me feel ways I never expected to, and although things were rocky, I didn't want to give up on us.

"Yes Sleeper, I'll go out with you." I rolled my eyes playfully and watched Sleepers face light up. He let out a breath of relief and leaned his forehead against mine. His eyes closed and waited with baited breath to see if he'd lean in further and kiss me again. I hated admitting it, but I still wanted him.

Unfortunately, he pulled back, blinking a few times before stepping back. "This Saturday at six thirty?"

I nodded, watching him step back and let go of my hand and walked out of my room. I flopped down on my bed and giggled like a teenager over the thought of going on a proper date with Sleeper.

"So you're just going to date them both?" Renee questioned. Cal, Renee and I decided to grab lunch the next day and catch up. Though we talked pretty much everyday, it seemed we still had much to discuss.

I shrugged, biting into my sandwich. "I'm not exclusive with either of them, it's just a few dates until things change."

"But its Sleeper, sex god Sleeper? Remember?" Cal said between a mouthful of her burger. "You guys are meant for each other, you're just delaying the inevitable."

I rolled my eyes, stealing a fry from her plate. "We are not star crossed lovers Cal, we're two people that bonded over trauma. That doesn't mean we're 'meant to be'."

Renee laughed. "I think I'm rubbing off on you. But don't deny you two have a big connection aside from the darker stuff."

She wasn't wrong. Sleeper and I shared a connection beyond our pasts. Before he left I considered him one of my best friends, someone I felt comfortable confiding in and sharing my darkest thoughts. That connection felt severed ever since he left, and I wasn't sure we could get it back.

"It's just a few dates." I repeated, trying to sound as casual about it as I could. Because that's what it was going to be, casual, with both of them.

Work came sooner than I would have liked, it was the day before my date with Sleeper. I was excited to spend time with Sleeper again. I had lost more than just a lover when he left, and truthfully I wanted to spend time with him again.

I was busy filling out charts when someone cleared their throat beside me. I jumped when I saw how close Derek. He had an amused smile on his face as he watched me scramble to close the documents I was working on.

"Hey." I breathed, giving him a small smile.

"Hey," he repeated. "You busy Sunday night?"

I thought for a minute and shook my head, raising an eyebrow to question what he wanted.

"Great! Let's get dinner then, I'll pick you up at five thirty." He leaned in and kissed my cheek before beginning to walk away. I was quick to grab his hand to stop him. His hands, not callused or rough like Sleepers, felt soft and slightly damp in my own. I questioned whether he had been nervous to ask me in the first place. He looked back and tilted his head.

"I just, Uh," I cleared my throat. "Can we do seven instead?"

"Of course, I'll pick you up then." He squeezed my hand and let go. I watched him walk away, and sighed in frustration. I had meant to tell him about Sleeper. I didn't want either of them to be caught off guard if things developed out of their favor. I wasn't going to sneak around and feel guilty for dating two men. It was the twenty-first century and I had every right to explore my feelings for two men if I wanted.

"you look constipated." I jumped again, hearing Cals voice behind me.

"What are you doing here?" Cal leaned on the counter and bumped her shoulder with mine.

"Vet office didn't need me today so I decided to see my favorite nurse." I rolled my eyes and leaned my head against her shoulder. "So what's got you so constipated?"

"Men." I groaned.

"Baby girl, you haven't even gone on your date with Sleeper yet. It's too soon to be worrying."

"I know but I have to tell them it's only casual and I just chickened out telling Derek." I explained.

"Please Derek's a total people pleaser, the real person you have to worry about is Sleeper." She was right, Sleeper had already shown he could be possessive. I was ashamed to admit I enjoyed his display of jealousy. He could act so indifferent and seeing him get worked up over Derek was hot.

"Don't remind me." I sighed. "I think this was a bad idea."

"Probably." Cal said matter of factly. "But you're in it now baby girl. Now come on, I need lunch."
