"the guests will arrive any minute now. i heard the entrance parade is almost lined up and ready to be received by the king's personal servant." mingyu walked by the cook's side through the endless hallways of the castle, darkness starting to dawn upon the country the more time passed.
"i still need to find minghao, he said he would meet me inside the ballroom but i want to see him already. he is supposed to make an entrance together with wonwoo and the rest of their folk." junhui complained, being touch deprived already after he was forced to spend the afternoon separated from the elf, as they both had to get ready for their night at the annual yule.
"say, do you think we are allowed to even spend time with them inside the hall?" mingyu asked, turning around the last corner that ended up in the humungous entrance hall. the golden chandeliers on the high ceilings were lit, drawing a golden hue through the room.
maids were still busying themselves with fixing the very final touches to the decorations all throughout the large entrance room and the singular hallway that lead straight to the gigantic ballroom where they would spend their night. a somewhat nerve-racking sight to the already nervous mingyu, who experienced his first time serving as the host of the night.
"minghao said that he would find a way somehow, but i am not entirely sure. i am afraid that we have to wait and see for ourselves." junhui gave the tall servant beside him a sympathetic pat on his broad shoulder. "according to seungcheol, we should be allowed to spend time with them. even in public. seeing seungcheol has given us the most beautiful suits, the guests from other kingdoms would take us for royal blood."
"i can't give you wrong here. i don't think i have ever worn such a wealthy looking suit. not even my working clothes are this.. perfectly sewed." mingyu breathed out, wiping the wrinkles from his sapphire tuxedo that had golden accents here and there. "i wish wonwoo could see me right now."
"i bet he would faint. even i have to admit that you look quite handsome tonight, mingyu." junhui let out a characteristic high-pitched chuckle that echoed through the room, catching the attention from some of the employees.
"who is going to faint?" mingyu and junhui were torn away from their thoughts and conversation, averting their gazes to who had unexpectedly accompanied them. it was the faithful heir of the elvish kingdom, minghao, who spoke up, having a rather silent wonwoo behind him who stared down at his feet.
a gasp escaped junhui's lips once his eyes landed on minghao, the gorgeous spectacle that stood right in front of him. his sparkling white robe was, without a doubt, sewed just for him to wear it. it hugged his body perfectly, matching with a white shirt he wore underneath it, its collar deep enough to expose his godly collar bones. silver accents every here and there, jewelry that accentuated his skin and his raven black hair that reached shoulder height, contrasting against his entirely white garment.
"please, let me accompany you to the hall, my prince." junhui bowed graciously, wearing the most charming smile that even got minghao to blush as he offered his hand. no further hesitation was needed for the elf to gently take a hold of it, letting himself be guided to the ballroom. "may i say that you look gorgeous tonight?"
"well, you look quite attractive yourself as well." minghao could barely restrain a giggle from rolling off his lips.
and while the two ran off to the the ballroom, the king's servant was left all alone with the shy elf, midst the chaotic hallway where maids where still scurrying around and putting everything in place. however, to mingyu the room was filled with silence, his focus laying with wonwoo and him only.
how he wore a suit similar to minghao's, only without a robe that reached ankle height, but with a pearly white tuxedo, silver accents all over the fabric to make him look more magical. even when he lacked confidence and half of his heavenly face was hidden behind his half-long raven hair, his appearance had taken mingyu's breath away.
"please just say something." wonwoo muttered, breaking the silence that had been unbearable to him and only had him lacking more and more confidence.
it was until mingyu's large and manly hands found a way in-between wonwoo's hair and his cheek, gently cupping the side of his face and rubbing his unblemished, milky white skin, when the stress the elf had felt earlier completely disappeared. mingyu forgot to care about those around them for once and pressed a long lasting kiss against his forehead, purposely having his lips linger there for a little longer as he knew how much comfort it brought wonwoo. and when he let go and leaned back, he wore the brightest, most genuine smile ever. with his perfect canines exposed, wonwoo swore he'd never felt a greater sense of euphoria in his life.
"you look breathtaking. please allow me to take your first dance tonight." mingyu whispered, grabbing a gentle hold of wonwoo's left hand and bringing it up to his face, pressing his lips against his smooth skin.
"i wouldn't want anyone else to have it." wonwoo breathed out, flustered by the sudden public affection mingyu showed him.
"then that is set. i will have to excuse myself for now, the first guests will be here any minute and i have to receive them." mingyu let out a sigh, knowing that he was forced to be separated from wonwoo for another hour, maybe even two. depending on how long the entrance event would take. "you should go find your father, he might be looking for you already."
wonwoo nodded without speaking any further words, watching how mingyu carefully let go of his hand again, turning his back to him and making way for the grande entrance that was just about to be opened.
perhaps it was mingyu's earlier affection, or the sense of euphoria that was still making him feel like he could do anything, that gave wonwoo his sudden sense of confidence. so without much hesitation, wonwoo called out a soft 'mingyu' in his characteristic monotone voice.
the servant barely even had the chance to properly turn around when wonwoo had already taken the opportunity to pull him down by his collar, increasing the proximity between them and closing the gap between their faces, connecting their lips together in a desperate and long awaited kiss. mingyu was perplexed by the sudden move wonwoo made, barely even able to move a muscle.
unfortunately, it only took a mere second for wonwoo to let go again, readjusting the collar of mingyu's suit as he noticed how his grip had crooked its fabric the slightest. "good luck out there." wonwoo muttered, too shy to look mingyu in the eyes as he turned around and left the room, leaving a starstruck mingyu behind.
the servant was certain of one thing; never in his life had he felt this way towards another living being. if this was what the books described as love, he would do anything to be together with the extraordinary elf in this lifetime being here.
