<3 chapter 10 <3

CHAPTER 10

            “Go talk to him!”  She pushed me towards him.  I shook my head and backed away. 

            “Tina… come with me?” I gave her my best puppy dog eyes but they failed miserably.  I guess I didn’t have the cuteness factor to pull that one off.

She shifted her wait onto one foot and placed a hand on her hip.

            “You’re a big girl. You can do it by yourself.” 

            “So mean!”  I whined looking at her with desperation. 

            “Tough love, babe.”  She smirked and I didn’t realize what she was about to do.

            “AGH!”  I yelled as she shoved me into a heavy wall of muscle I call my boyfriend.  His face showed all signs of shock and then turned into a mixture of apprehension and sadness.  It was obvious that something was horribly wrong.  I grabbed him by the wrist and started dragging him behind me.  I don’t know what was happening my body was just moving on its own.  I was sick of playing the shy girl.  I wasn’t going to act like it was nothing just because he was hot.  

            I dragged him into the janitor’s closet and heard a few whoops as I slammed the door behind me.  I sighed and looked up at him.  I watched as he opened his mouth and then closed it again.  For some reason this made me chuckle.  Maybe I just chuckle when I’m nervous.

            “Look, Spencer, I’m not mad at you.  Okay, maybe a little.  All I want is the truth, ok?  I think I deserve AT LEAST that much.”

            He just stares at me for a little bit and then nods slowly. “I’m sorry.  I shouldn’t have done what I did.  To be honest I actually did start to like you.” 

            I heard what he was saying but for some reason my mind didn’t quite process it.  I looked blankly at him as he uncomfortably continued. 

            “Andrew, well I actually know him.  And I knew he was going to come back.  He asked me to keep an eye on you to make sure you were ok.  He wants to get back together with you.  And…” 

            I interrupted him trying to get my mind around this.  I actually wasn’t expecting a reply but I needed to say it out loud.  For some reason it felt like if I didn’t it just wouldn’t seem real.  

            “So let me see if I get this straight… He asked YOU to ask ME out so I would be available for HIM when he gets back?  How could he think up something like that after what happened? And you agreed to something so twisted?”

            He ducked his head down in shame and shoves his hands in his pockets.  “Yeah, I didn’t actually think I would start liking you.”

            For some reason those words hurt more than anything.  I’m sure he didn’t mean to say it like that but it was too late.  This was so wrong!  Why does Andrew just love to screw with my life?  I wasn’t going to cry anymore.  It just wasn’t worth the headache.  I pivoted around on my heel without a word.  My hand wrapped over the cold knob and twisted.  I looked back at Spencer with a fake smile plastered on my face.

            “Goodbye, Spencer.”

            “See you later, Kara.”  He mumbles so that I barely catch it.  Under my breath I say something.  I don’t know what possessed me to say that and I hope he didn’t hear.
