09 ― After All This Time

[IT'S VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ THE BEGINNING OF THIS. This is an overview of Age of Ultron, but it also has CRUCIAL details involving Holland that set her up for Civil War, and I know a lot of people ignore the details because I get asked questions where the answers are literally in the text]

THE LAST TWO YEARS FOR HOLLAND STARK have been a bit stressful. She, Steve, and Sam started their search for Bucky, but they kept coming up on dead-ends at every turn. Holland suggested that he probably ghosted, and she knew one thing about ghosts since she's been one herself.

If they don't want to be found, they won't be.

But Holland was still holding out hope. Knowing that Bucky was out there, she wasn't going to stop until she found him, and she was going to do everything she could to help him. But they didn't have too much time to focus before they were pulled back into another mission about a year after what happened in DC.

The avengers were reunited, and they were called to Sokovia. They got word of another HYDRA base being there, so of course, Holland jumped at the chance to take it out.

While she and Steve were gone with everyone else, Sam assured them that he would keep looking. While in Sokovia, they ran into a bit of a problem. Two twins, Wanda and Pietro Maximoff. Wanda got inside of Tony's head and made him see something that shook him to his core. All of the avengers, dead. Steve's shield was cracked, Holland was dead, everyone was dead, and the worst part was?

He wasn't.

So what was Tony's response to that? He wanted to build an 'armor around the world,' as he called it, to do the protecting so that as Avengers, they wouldn't have to do this forever. He started working with Banner on it, and he kept it a secret from the rest of the Avengers. They were going to name it 'Ultron.' They wanted Ultron to be a mix of Tony, Bruce, and Jarvis, but it went wrong, and Ultron attacked the group when they were having a small party after their mission in Sokovia had gone well.

After fighting off Ultron, he disappeared, and everyone looked to Tony and Bruce for explanations because now they had a new threat to fight. Holland thought this new mission would be good for her to get her mind off of Bucky; she needed something new to focus on since the Bucky front was coming up empty.

When the Avengers went after Ultron the first time, and they discovered that the twins were working with him, Wanda got into the heads of half of the Avengers, except for Holland, she did something different; Wanda knew about her since she was volunteering for HYDRA, so instead, she said Holland's trigger words. Six random words that were spoken in Russian, 'Eighteen' 'Homecoming' 'Benign' 'Night' 'Incinerate' and 'Hood.' Holland's eyes started to glow blue with each word that Wanda said, and then Wanda had her.

She used her to attack the rest of the Avengers, who were confused, all but Steve. Wanda got inside his head and made him see Peggy, but he tried to shake that out of his mind to bring Holland back to herself. He was able to talk her down, and the glow left from her eyes, but she was unconscious for a while, but luckily after that, they went to Clint's safe house. When Holland woke up, she was petrified. Steve assured her that she didn't hurt anyone, and she didn't kill anyone, but he had to explain to the team about her blackouts.

It was hard going forward from there.

Holland didn't trust herself, and she didn't blame anyone else if they didn't trust her either. But Steve stayed by her side to keep an eye on her. Ultron was trying to build a new AI, but they stole it back from him. Tony and Bruce worked on putting Jarvis inside the new bot, and when Thor came and hit the chamber with his hammer, a new AI emerged.
