okay so just now i watched all the new episodes of the seven deadly sins 5th season and WOW too many thing too many info but i'm liking it.
and watching it now made me remember how much i ADORE king and diane's relationship, by far one of my favorites in the show and anime in general. but seeing them now made me think: why? why carla do you like that cutesie giant with that lazy fairy so much?
well after thinking about it and comparing their relationship with the other ones in the anime i came to a conclusion that i'm gonna share rn. so please keep reading if you are interested.
and well this is obvious but
!!the seven deadly sins anime spoilers ahead
okay first of all i need to touch on this topic before i proceed with the ship. and it is that even tho 7ds has a really interesting plot and good characters, it's really misogynistic, in the way that they over sexualize almost every female character, especially elizabeth, diane and merlin.
this is pretty common in anime and in hentai because mosts animes are made by men for men, meaning that the tiddies and the booties are going to have a lot of protagonism thought the show. almost all women are objectified in the anime SPECIALLY ELIZABETH BY MELIODAS (but that's for a whole another chapter) to the point that it bores me, a lot.
but thankfully this does not come along with the other most common female stereotype that always appear in anime that is this codependency that a female character may have with either the protagonist or another male character. i'm not saying that there are no female characters that clearly depend on her male counterpart (elizabeth n elaine) but most of the women in this anime does not.
and the there is diane. omg DIANE DOES NOT depend on men (for the most part) at all. at the beginning we saw her simping hard for meliodas and putting all her attention on him, but later on she stops this and she focus on other things. since the start we know that she is strong af because of her height and her abilities, just to get stronger with time. her story does not depends on meliodas or king, but herself. she fights her way through all the battle and she also learns new things about herself like the story behind the giants or her arc with matrona.
and also, she has her own insecurities that are not related to another person, like elizabeth at the beginning when she was unsure of meliodas feelings for her (by now you should notice that i'm not the biggest elizabeth fan), she was insecure about her being a gigant and what she was supposed to do with her life (was she gonna be a warrior or not?)
she was a real character (for a medieval fantasy of course) with her insecurities, strengths and development throughout the show, making her more human and likable.
and now let's go with king: i do not have to explain myself for this one, he is one of the best characters, ever. i love him. he has his own flaws and merits but he always fights for what he wants: diane (duh), the seven deadly sins and his people. did he fucked up? yeah, once or twice, but he always makes it up and tries to amend his mistakes.
and now their whole love story: I CRIED SO MUCH OMG. they started as two lonely and insecure creatures that needed the reassurance of another person, then they proceed to DELETE THAT (diane's memory lost) and start again by fighting together by being members of the seven deadly sins, just to get the first part back (when she finally remembers everything and realizes that her love for meliodas was, in fact, not for him but for king) and then FINALLY them becoming a couple. yeah i skipped a whole bunch of parts, sorry <3.
but my point is that, they had a story, a progress that explains their feelings and motives for them to fall for each other. it was not like ban and elaine that the writers TOLD US that they fell in love. with diane and king we SAW their story. maybe you've heard this before but when you are creating a book, a movie or whatever you should seek this thing called "show don't tell". you SHOW how two people fall in love or maybe how someone improves as a person, you shouldn't just say "after that he changed and now he is a good person" NO. you show us actions, scenes, progress, SOMETHING.
(i'm not saying that elaine's and ban's relationship did not have any arguments, not at all, but king's and diane's was better constructed.)
also, a random thought, they look good together??? especially now that king had a glow up (i liked how he looked before but ngl he is looking fiiiiine) and i say this because it's a little bit disturbing how tall is ban compared to elaine (well compared to anyone he is like 220cm tall) and how she has a really childlike appearance. and let's not go with meliodas and elizabeth. not shaming any short kings who date tall queens but meliodas being so short plus his constant need to touch elizabeth tiddies makes me think that he is a horny 11-year old who just found out about masturbation.
and i could go on on how they are a match make in heaven (he is an isfp and diane is an enfj i cannot) but it's almost 3am and i need some sleep.
so yeah watch the seven deadly sins, read my armin short story and eat your vegetables ig idk what to say. good night yall <3

pd: the second best couple was gowther and nadja, i still cry to this day bc of them and i will not tolerate anyone disagreeing with me. bye
