"Are you sure you're okay there sweetie? No more turning back?" My mom said on the other line. I can't help to feel guilty of leaving my parents and Melbourne - where I spent most of my life. But this is I believed what's best for me. I really wanted to continue my passion and moving here in LA will help me to focus more on my career.
I let myself fall on my couch before answering.
"Yes mom, no turning back." I said firmly.
She took a long deep breath and say "Okay, if that's what you want.. Just don't do anything stupid there. Remember that I always open your blog and I follow you on your IG so I know what you're doing!" I giggled at her warning.
"Don't forget to Like my every post too mom!" I squealed while laughing.
"Alright, I will leave you for now and do your thing! I know that you haven't organize your stuffs on your new home yet. I bet you are surrounded with boxes on the floors now!" She said teasingly.
She's right. Most of my things were still inside those boxes. Some of them were not yet open since they just arrived from Melbourne last night.
"Yeah, thanks for reminding me! I'll try to go furniture shopping and finish it within this week! I'll call you again soon and please tell Dad I said hi!" I said before hunging up.
It was already 12 o'clock in the afternoon and I can hear my stomach growling. I was too lazy to go out of the building to eat outside and go back here again. I would never even trust myself to set foot inside the kitchen because I am capable of burning a house down. So I googled the nearest restaurant at this building. I chose the Japanese cuisine which is only 10 minutes away from here. I dialled the number on my phone and ordered some fresh salmon and sushi.
Once I finish, I went to my walk-in closet to decide what will I wear later while I wait for the food to come. My closet was three times bigger than my bedroom. This room was supposed to be the master bedroom but I told the management of this condominium to turned it into my closet. I even gave them the layout design of how I wanted it to be. For me, it was perfect! It was huge enough to store all my clothes. The room has a big space in the middle because I wanted to put a couch on it so I can sit or even sleep here. It was exactly how I pictured them and they did a great job for not making it look like a department store. The built-in wardrobes were filled with rows and rows of clothes, shoes and bags. It also has a drawers where I put all of my accessories and jewelries.
Ever since when I was in high school , I knew that I wanted to be in the fashion industry. I love dressing up, shopping, watching Fashion TV and even searching for the latest trends. I always ask my friends to take a photo of my outfit everyday. That's when I started to make a blog of my everyday style. It was only my personal diary at first. I never thought that people will notice it, that someone actually care on what I'm posting or that they will look up at me as their fashion icon. Until I was featured in magazines, fashion events and TV shows in Australia.
Two years later, I was named as the youngest successful blogger in the fashion world. To be honest, until now it feels so unreal to be where I am now. I looked around my closet and stared at the massive of clothes that I have now. I didn't buy all of them, sometimes I am lucky enough to receive gifts from friends and sponsors. And it's not everyday that I bought designer shoes or bags that's worth a thousand dollars. I probably be bankrupt by now if I let that happen.
The constant ringing of the doorbell snapped me out of my thoughts. I hurriedly pulled my hair up in a bun, get my wallet and reached the door. I paid the bills and give the delivery man a tip. I removed the foods from the plastic and placed it on a plate. While eating my salmon, I made a car reservation via online since I don't have my own car here in LA. Back in Melbourne, I used to drive my Dad's car. He even insisted to bring it with me here but I refused because I wanted to purchase my own when my savings were enough. After registrating my personal details on the site, I took a shower to start getting ready for tonight.
On times like these, I usually call my glam team to fix my hair and make-up. But tonight, I didn't bother to call them since I don't need to wear a heavy make-up. I have no plans on staying longer. I just need to make an appearance on the red carpet. This is the time when the media will ask you the most awaited answer for the question "What are you wearing?".
After putting all the necessary skincare products on my face, I open my Spotify app on my phone and play some music. I keep my towel on the top of my hair and start getting the make-up that I need on my vanity kit. Most of it are from MAC - my favorite brand. I know how to do my own make-up, kudos to the beauty gurus on YouTube! It is true that make-up can do wonder on your face, I always contour my face then apply some cheek tint, powder and my MAC red lipstick from Rihanna's line onto my fair skin so I wouldn't look pale. When I was satisfied on my look, I started working on my hair. A messy low bun will always be my all-time hairstyle. Then I put on my outfit for the night, which is a nude top and sparkly skirt in the same shade from Topshop. Of course, I have to wear their brand because the media will ask for it! I paired it with my Burberry trench coat that I'll wear later at night when it gets cold. I put on my gold rose Michael Korr's watch, armcandies and sprayed some Dolce & Gabbana perfume on the back of my ear and wrist.
The car will arrive at 3:00pm. An hour before the event will start. I've learned one thing during my stay on hotels in California, always leave your house early if you want to make it on time. LA traffic was the worst thing I have to deal with. I grabbed my bag and put my iPhone, make-up kit, keys and the one of the most important thing that a blogger must have - my DSLR which is a Nikon D800. I slipped on my Yves Saint Laurent nude pumps and checked myself one last time on the full-length mirror then leave the condominium.
The driver greeted while opening the passenger door for me. I smiled at him and sit inside the car. The travel will takes an hour so I decided to text Alisha, my blogger bestie, to ask her if she'll be coming too. To avoid myself from getting annoyed on the traffic, I took a shot of my armcandy - a cliché thing that a fashion blogger do - then post it on Instagram. Alisha finally replied on me announcing that she'll be there too!
Using the directions given to me, we ended up in front of the mall. We found a parking spot which was a great relief because there are already a lot of luxury cars lined up. I got out of the car and tell the driver that I'll call him once I finished to pick me up. I went straight on the back entrance of the mall where the VIP's usually enter. I can see the cameramen and paparazzis were already in front of the red carpet. They haven't recognized me yet since their backs are on me. I took a deep breath before entering the store.. beacause the next thing I know, the only thing I'll be able to see are flashes of camera.
