Ryder sat upright to pet Chase, but did not feel his soft fur.

"Right" he grumbled and remembered, "Mom and Dad are dead, Chase is at a shelter, Katie's in the City, Daniel is on the other side of the Canada, Carlos as I already know is on the other side of the World and I am stuck here!"

He stood up and dressed, washed, went back to the bed and took out the picture of Mom, Dad, Katie, Daniel, Carlos, Chase and him.

"Good Morning, Katie; Good Morning, Daniel; Good Morning Carlos; Good Morning Chase; Good Morning to heaven Dad and Mom. I hope you are all well"

Suddenly, he heard a knock on the door.

"Wakey, Wakey signor Bailey! Or else you'll miss breakfast!" A voice with an Italian accent called, he realized it was Mrs Brambilla.

"Coming!"

While in the middle of breakfast, Ryder heard the front door bell being ringed and saw another worker, whom he learned was Mr Cedars, opened the door and saw the Mayor, Mayor Goodway enter.

"Good morning everyone!"

Bgkwaaaaaack!

"Chickaletta says 'morning too!"

" 'Morning Mayor Goodway! What brings you here?"

"Oh! I heard that a child named Ryder Bailey is here?"

"Yes?"

"I wish to see him"

See me? What would she want from me? Ryder thought

He saw Mr Cedars lead Mayor Goodway to him.

"Your parents are Kayla and John Bailey, right?"

"Hm hm" Ryder swallowed back the signs of tears and looked away.

"Come, I have to talk to you"

The Mayor then turned to Mr Cedars and asked him to bring her and Ryder to a more private place.

"As you know, your parents, Kayla and John have di-"

"Can we please not talk about them?"

"Please let me continue?"

Ryder sighed, his parents were a VERY sensitive subject to talk about.

"I am a close friend of them, and being that, they told me their last words when they were in the ambulance"

Ryder was beginning to get more attached.

"What were they?"

"They told me to tell you that they are very proud of what you became and hope that you'll continue to be"

Ryder sighed disappointedly, "Anything more?"

"I believe not"
