Today Marks my last

Today marks my 16th birthday, it's honestly a special day, like an anniversary! When I was 14, on this same day I was gonna do something I was gonna regret. I had lost everything on my 14 birthday, parents, a house , food, clean water , I wanted to lose myself but turns out life is unpredictable. That same day I met two weird, unpredictable people now I'm 16. And today marks my last birthday.

"What're you doing for your birthday this year?" Diana said as we walked down the empty streets at 12AM
"I'ma do nothing"
"You gotta be kidding me, last year you did nothing too!"
"And? What's wrong with that?"
"Nothing it's just-"
"How far is Payton's house again?"
"Don't dodged my question" Diana sighed, we continued down the trail to Payton's house. The trail was lit up by fireflies and fairies, the beautiful green grass shimmered .
"Actually....." I stopped abruptly
"I wanna go see the prophet " I smiled , Diana too stopped abruptly without looking back she spoke
"Don't you dare go there" I walked up to her, her face was serious.
" I was just playing! Chill" I laughed
"Oh" her expression softened and we continued to walk to Payton's house.
After a few minutes we arrived , Payton was waiting on her roof.
"Success" she said jumping off her roof
"Shall we go then"  Diana said taking a skateboard out from her skateboard case.
"Yup" Payton grabbed her bike,I too took out my skateboard from my skateboard case. We was going to the water fall of wishes, it's a big water fall if you make it there by sunrise on your birthday you'll be given 3 wishes. It's about 3 hours away from us, if things go well you'll be there at 3. It sounds easy, but it's not. The waterfall is full of monsters of all kind, goblins, dragons name it it's there.
"So....are you prepared to die" I screamed , laughing
"You really are different Karl" Payton laughed
I just smiled
" I can't wait till we get there" she screamed before going down a steep hill, I haven't been skateboarding for a long time but I didn't care. I followed right after Diana, I was zooming down the hill. The hill was very steep, and rocky, my board started going out of control. I tried to emergency stop , but I fell I rolled on my neck I heard a crack and I felt relieved. My body was so light, did I finally do it? Did I finally....die?
I heard a gasp coming from Diana and Payton and I slowly opened my eyes
Damn it
I sighed and smiled weakly
"I'm okay" they sighed again but sighed of relief
"Don't scare us like that!" Payton scolded me
" I'm sorry, I won't do it again"
"I thought you died!"
"Right any fall like that ends up in death" Diana added
"I have thick bones" I laughed it off
"Right" Payton said helping me up
And we continued on the trail to the waterfall,
we could already see the waterfall from here.
"We're almost there! Diana smiled
She seemed so excited, same with Payton. I guess we are all the same wanting to die fast, they never looked like the type to wanna die I guess I assumed too fast.
" Can I be serious with you guys?" Payton said In a low tone before speaking
" I'm.....not prepared to die today" Payton laughed
" but I'll fight if it means Karl gets his wishes"
Everything was silent, but not that calm silent. That suffocating silent, the silence you only get in serious situations. That silence bled into the rest of the ride, before Diana spoke.
" are you guys ready?" Diana grabbed the weapons she brought the day before. Everyone grabbed a Katana.
" yeah, I'm ready" Payton looked scared, I sighed ,and grabbed her shoulder, smiling at her.
"If I see you in trouble I'll help you I won't let you die today"
She looked at me and smiled, before we stepped onto the stairs of the waterfall
