Ko's POV.
"Mum!" I shouted running though the house like a chicken, "Where are the Halloween costumes?" I walked downstairs and into the kitchen where my mum was preparing dinner, "I've been looking everywhere but I can't find them!"
My mum sighed, "Yeah, I put them into a box and took it to the attic."
"Great, why didn't you tell me?" I said and wanted to go and get the costumes because it was Halloween in 3 days and JJ and Joanne invited everyone to a massive Halloween Party at JJ's house.
"Ko, wait," my mum said and I turned around in the doorframe, "Please don't unpack them, will you?"
I was puzzled, "Why?"
My mum put down the knife she was holding in her hand to peel some potatos and took a breath, "I already started packing some of the stuff we don't need very often, because..."
She looked down on her hands and didn't say anything else so I asked, "Because what? Mum, tell me!"
"We're moving," she evetually said and gave me a worried look.
"We're what?" I think I would have fallen to the floor if the doorframe had not been there to support me, "No way!"
"I know it's really surprising and everything, but-" my mum began but I interrupted her.
"A surprise is supposed to be a good thing, mum!" I had managed to stand on my own feet again and made my way to a chair and sat down, "What's the next one? We're moving tomorrow or something?"
"No," she sighed again, "The end of november. I got this job offer in London and you always wanted to live in London and I though... I don't know I just thought it was a great opportunity! They have amazing editorials in London and you could work at one and make great experience."
I shook my head, "But I don't want to work at an editoral. I want to stay here with my friends and with Josh!"
My mum came over to the chair where I was sitting and hugged me, "I know, honey. I knew it wasn't going to be easy but let's talk about it when dinner is ready? And I promise you, we'll get a nice costume at a shop and you'll look great on the party."
"Mum, I don't think buying me something is gonna fix the situation," I said quietly, "I'm not a little girl anymore."
I got up and left the kitchen. I really didn't know what to do next so I just went to my bedroom and lay down on my bed. I didn't want to talk to Josh about it right now because hearing his worries would only make it worse by realising what it would be like saying goodbye to him. I was under an immense shock. How did my mum think I was gonna react to that and why didn't she tell me right away? I felt betrayed and helpless because there was nothing I could do about it. I took my iPod, plucked my earphones in and listened to music. The sader the songs got, the more I felt a hole grow in my stomach and tears started rolling down my face, falling off my chin and landing on the pillow.
I was woken up by the sound of my phone ringing right next to my head. I must have fallen asleep while listening to music. "Hello?" I picked up without checking who was calling me.
"Hi darling," I heard Josh's voice and immediately felt the urge to cry again, "Everything alright?"
I swallowed the tears and put on a weak smile which was senseless because Josh didn't see it anyways, "Yes, sure. What about you?"
"I just had a great idea for the party in 3 days," he sounded excited and his positive mood made me feel a little better, "I know you said you had a lot of costumes already but what if we get you a new one and we go together as Wendy and Peter, from Peter Pan!"
