Alexis stared at her ceiling in silence as Karl rummaged through her drawers in search of a decent outfit for her to wear. "How about this Lex?" He asked, holding up a purple dress. Alexis didn't even look at him, so Karl walked over. "what's wrong?" he asked "...I don't like my name" She mumbled "I don't like my hair" She looked at Karl "I don't like my body daddy" Karl shook his head, she was probably just upset over her appearance like most girls. "Aww...Well" He got off of her bed and walked to the dresser, he grabbed a bright red bow and brought it to "her" side, pining it to the sandy brown curls. "...How's that?" Karl asked "...Thank you Daddy" Karl patted "Her" head and sat her up, pulling the dress from it's spot on "her" bed.

"...Papa" Alexis pulled at Nick's sleeve. The tall man turned and smiled "You look so pretty!" He cried. The child shook "her" head "I don't wanna be pretty papa..." but the comment flew over Nick's head. "Come on Lex, every little girl wants to be pretty" He said patting her head. She groaned in frustration and slammed her hands on the arms of her wheelchair. Mateo hurried over, sensing her distress, and moved to comfort her. What Nick found strange...was Mateo didn't say "Lex" Or "Alexis" when he comforted his sister. Instead he said "Ayden".

"She's acting so strange" Nick said rubbing his forehead "How?" Alex asked as he grabbed a piece of steak Karl had been using for Tubbo's school lunch. Karl swatted at the boy's hand before nodding in agreement. "She said something to me...She said she hated her body" He said as he moved on to the snacks. Alex went quiet. "Really? She told me she didn't wanna be pretty. Maybe she's going through a tomboy faze" Alex sighed as the men continued on. She. She. She. Finally he snapped "Or maybe She is not a She" Karl stared at him as if he were crazy while Nick glanced back at the dishes. "...she's just a kid Alex. She doesn't know yet-" Alex sighed "let's ask her then" He grabbed Karl and Nick by the wrist, passing Tubbo and Mateo as they hurried to Alexis's side. She stared at them in shock as they surrounded her, Mateo and Tubbo close behind, pushing past the adults to stand by her side. "...Alexis when you said you didn't wanna be pretty...did you mean it?" Asked Nick. Alexis shifted uncomfortably before nodding. Mateo grabbed her hand tight. "...When you said you hate your body..honey did that mean you don't like being a girl? Do you not feel right in your body?" Karl asked worriedly. The seven year old burst into tears as they cried. They pulled out the bow in their hair and shoved it in Karl's hands. "I'm sorry Daddy...". Karl's heart broke, he didn't understand...but he couldn't bear to see the child cry. He handed it to Nick, who took a deep breath before smiling softly and pinning the bow to the kid's chest, like a bowtie. Alex placed his hand on "Alexis's" Cheek, and Karl grabbed their hands. "Our son..." Karl said as the throuple teared up. Mateo had taken a step away, standing beside Tubbo. "What do we call you?" Asked Nick suddenly "Ayden" Mateo but in, only he and Tubbo knew about the name their little sibling had wanted to be called. "Okay...is that right?" asked Alex. Ayden nodded and the husbands hugged him. "You don't have to be sorry honey...We still love you" Nick said. Ayden cried loudly.

"Alright...how short are we going Ayden?" Asked Dallas as she held the scissors to Ayden's long hair. "Short...like Mateo" Ayden said as he adjusted the button up shirt Tubbo had given him. Dallas nodded and started to cut off the long curls. The fathers watched silently, smiling whenever Ayden looked their way. He closed his eyes at Dallas's instructions, and she snipped away for at least half n hour. "Okay...open!" She said excitedly. Ayden took a deep breath and opened. There he was. His sandy brown curls situated much like Tubbo's. "....Do you like it?" Dallas asked. Ayden burst into tears and for a moment the group thought they had been mistaken, maybe Ayden only thought he wanted to be a boy....? yet, "I love it!" Sobbed the little boy as his brothers hugged him tight. Now Ayden and Mateo looked alike, though they could still be told apart. "Hey the front door was unlocked-" Tommy froze when he saw Ayden. "Oh...Hey there...uh...?" "Ayden" Tubbo whispered "Hey there Ayden. How's it goin big man?" Tommy asked casually as he ruffled Ayden's hair. Ayden's smile widened and Karl made a note to tell Phil just how great his adopted son was. He had walked in, assessed the situation quickly and adjusted, and managed to make Ayden feel valid all in less then five seconds. "Can me and Tubbo go outside?" Tommy asked "What? Oh yeah...of course" Alex nodded kindly.

It would be hard to adjust to Ayden's transition, but he would do it, He would do it because he loved him, no matter what name or gender he went by he was still Alex's child...and he would do anything for him...and his brothers.
