Javelin looked up from her magazine a couple of times every minute. She was slightly anxious about Long Island and the commander's return. She had thrown him for a loop.
*Long Island might return alone. The commander might. What if the commander doesn't want to speak to me?* She fretted to herself.
But another thought came to her that reassured her. *He can't hope to participate in any engagement with only a light carrier. He needs me. But I probably still should back off.*
After she had somewhat collected her thoughts, the purple haired destroyer thought she heard footsteps coming down the corridor that Riley MacLean and Long Island had ran down. As she listened closer, she could make out two distinct sets of feet maneuvering toward her. She didn't have any reason to believe it would be anyone beside her commander and Long Island, so that was who Javelin expected.
A few moments later, Riley MacLean and Long Island walked into the reception room without saying a word.
Long Island shot an attentive look at Javelin before glancing back at their commander. It was a soft, supportive look of encouragement. Riley paused for a moment as he gazed into the American girl's eyes, before he turned his attention to Javelin.
He surveyed her once again. *She's wearing a pretty short skirt and a rather revealing outfit as well. I hope this isn't a recurring thing, as I am sure there are more "shipgirls" than just these two.*
"Please. Reintroduce yourself," the brown haired commander asked of the destroyer.
She smiled brightly. "My name is Javelin commander. It will be my pleasure to be in your service," she added, but her tone wasn't very humble.
"Good," Riley replied rather plainly.
He turned his attention to the desk in the room. "Would this be mine?" he asked Long Island.
"I believe so sir," she dutifully responded. "This port, and your station, are both new. We haven't been given much yet."
He took a seat down behind it. He looked at his schedule. It read: *Meet flagship, meet pair of destroyers from Britain, order list of supplies, conduct training, review training, if training is successful reassign R.*
He didn't understand that last bit, but he assumed he would be busy. He began to look at his order sheet. He could ask Javelin what size clothing she would need for several things. *A more proper kilt. Long leggings. A less revealing shirt.* He went over the laundry list in his head. He had no idea just how much he was in over it.
He did mention one thing. "It seems we will be getting one more member very soon," he said with cautious anticipation.
