Harley let out a loud sigh as yet another person ran past his desk making the papers scatter all over the floor he really needed to get a paper weight. He watched as his coworkers stepped on his papers without a care in the world only making his resentment grow for them, 'honestly did they think they would get put on the task force if they just now started working hard?'
As the only heir to the well know Vance family he was taught from a young age that he mustn't slack off and do his very best. It's funny if you really think about it, his father Duke Vance always neglected him after he found out he possessed no magic or physical combat power however that changed when at the age of six an accident happened that brought out his magic power.
Harley could remember being so desperate for his fathers attention that he went to town where he found a magician. Not the kind of magician that has really cool magic but the ones you'd find at a kids birthday party, the one who would pull a bunny out of their top hat.
Once he mastered the tricks the women taught him he eagerly showed his adoptive sister Lesley but with her sharp eye she could tell it wasn't real magic. He remembered asking her now that he knew magic would his father finally like him. Looking back on it now he wished she had crushed his dreams of ever learning magic rather then nurturing his 'supposedly magic power'.
He knew deep down that it wasn't her fault after all everyone he showed his 'magic' too knew it was fake but they all didn't want to hurt him so they let him believe it was real. however some small part of him blamed Lesley more then others, he was envious of her.
Despite not being Duke's actual daughter he trained her to be a master sniper, he payed attention to her, something he didn't do to his own son. Harley wondered if his Mother didn't die after he was born would he get love?
Although at the same time Harley loved his sister more then anything, she was the only one who gave him love, the only who would spend time with him, the only one who could make him laugh and smile.
Lesley wouldn't have even been his sister if it wasn't for her fathers death, more importantly who her father was to the Duke. Her father was the leader of Dukes guards, he sacrificed himself for Vance and to pay back his kindness he took his daughter as his own.
Lesley was too kind for own good when it came to him, its his fault she lost her left eye but that accident revealed his magic.
"Harley?" A girl called out to him, snapping him out of his daze. Harley spun around in his seat, his gaze landing a girl with two toned hair
When he realized who was calling out to him his face softened "lylia..."
Her voice was soft when she spoke but it held a hint of danger "you okay? you were holding your pen so hard you snapped it half" her gaze shifted from him to his hand then back to him
"O-oh I didn't realize, I'm fine don't worry" despite what he said his eyes said something different, inside those emerald orbs you could see sadness but at the same time they were filled with burning hatred
Lylia bit her lip as she debated wether or not to ask further questions but in the end she simply sighed and took a seat at her desk which was right next to his.
No further words were exchanged between the two instead the girl simply handed him a wipe to clean his hand then started doing her work. Harley did the same once his hand was clean however it only took him five minutes to get frustrated again causing his new pen to snap in half from how tight his grip was.
