Just like Harley had done lylia pushed her emotions aside, and focused on the task on hand.Despite what her heart told her to do her brain told her that this was not the time to break Harley's walls open.
All she wanted to do was help, but this was not the time. That didn't stop her from wondering when would be the right time. The longer she waited the more he'd spiral downwards.
The way Harley acted now was unlike the way he acted when they first met.
"I'm surprised to find someone else here" Lylia laughed a hollow laugh
Harley who'd been reading a spell book of A rank spells flinched.
He could never forget her voice. It held a hint of danger every time she spoke, her voice alone could send shivers down anyones spine. In some cases mostly to the meek students it would trigger their flight or fight responds.
However something about the way she acted around others made him feel confused rather than scared.
Her Laugh sounded forced, like someone was holding a gun to her head. To anyone else it'd sound like any other laugh, but he had forced laughs many times before.
At family events, in front of his family, friends, parties... he'd force a laugh, or a smile mostly every second of every day.
This is the first time Harley could say she spoke to him. It's true they go to the same school, share most of the same classes, yet this is the first time she had spoken to him.
She'd often send him a smile when she caught him staring, or a friendly wave, but that was it.
It wasn't strange that they've never spoke before after all she was the star student. One of the popular not popular students.
While he was had a shy, meager personality, second to best grades, strong but unstable magic.
Sure she had the best grades, strongest magic like him, but she had a not so great attitude. Her attitude made others want to steer clear while her magic seemed to capture their attention drawing them closer. Like a sirens song luring in unlucky sailors into the dangerous waters.
Unlike the other students magic who were mostly bright hers was dark, and forbidden, yet that intrigued others while at the same time made them shun her.
Harley shifted uncomfortably in his seat on the dark oak floor. He was never sure in what to do in situations quite like this.
Noticing Harley's discomfort lylia walked over to him. Allowing her body to relax a bit from its usual confidant posture, to show him she meant no harm.
His emerald eyes followed her elegant movements till she was right in front of him. A small blush appeared on his cheeks, as he realized she was now standing above him. Not to mention his eyes were still trained on her, so he quickly averted his eyes.
She giggled at this, and in one swift motion she was crouching right next to him, a genuine smile on her face. However with him facing away from her he didn't notice.
