Mindjack leaped across a particularly large gap, heading towards where he heard a scream. It had been a few months since he started vigilantism, and he didn't regret it one bit.

After being rejected from both UA's hero and general course, Hitoshi had been forced to try and find another outlet for heroism. He couldn't help the itch that came over him after seeing heroes save people in need. If he didn't do anything, what good was he?

He divebombed a man who was reaching a bit too far down a woman's skirt in an alleyway, crushing his face underneath his boot.

"Why were you doing that?" Hitoshi prepared to use his quirk on the man.

The man giggled from underneath him. "'Was her fault for wearing such a short skirt. What a whore." Hitoshi stepped on his head a bit harder for that before activating his quirk and making the man go rigid underneath him.

He sighed, ordering the man to go to the police station and coincidentally forget what he looked like. He checked up on the victim, making sure she wasn't injured before parkouring up the building to the roof.

He breathed in the night air through his mask, savoring the feeling of saving another person.

That was.. The 352nd person I've saved?

He sat down on the roof of a high rise, watching the sun rise. He kept count of every crime he had stopped, sort of using it as motivation to stop more. Knowing that he had made an actual physical difference in the world instead of just floating around and never amounting to anything made it feel like it was worth all of the bruises and insults.

A light breeze tousled his hood, the fresh morning air comfortably cool this time of year. Streaks of red, orange, and yellow painted the sky, announcing the sun's approaching presence.

It felt good. The wind blowing through his hair, the after burn of using muscles.. It made life worth living.

He honestly didn't know what he would do if he couldn't experience that. Probably die.

After a few moments of relaxing, he stretched out his relaxed muscles, responding to the jitters making sure he didn't miss anyone who needed saving. Even a minute could make the difference in life or death.

Mindjack put his hoodie back on and climbed down to another building, jumping from each office building, occasionally walking on power lines. He made sure not to step too hard on them, not wanting to cause a power outage. (It was incredibly embarrassing the first time he did and mortification stopped him from ever doing it again.)

He stopped a few other criminals for the night, occasionally doing smaller things like helping people cross the street or scaring away stalkers. Unlike the mainstream heroes, he didn't ignore people that needed help for "smaller" problems in favor of prestige. It didn't matter how obsolete the problem, it always made him feel better to help. A bit cheesy but it was true.

It was getting late, or early if the sun's position was right. It was around 5 so he made one more round before going "home".

Dread curled in his chest as bruises ached. Vigilantism was his only respite from.. Everything. It had only gotten worse after he got into high school. Instead of passing insults and power hungry people trying to become friends, it was more getting assaulted in hallways or just being ignored. To make matters worse, he was too much "trouble" for his previous arguably nice foster home so he got switched into a new, very much worse, one.
