Chapter Two: A prince in a daydream..?

"Suiren Mairu," The prince mumbled a name as he drummed the tips of his fingers against the wooden desk, "Prince Makoto has really taken in a concubine."

"Yes, my prince."

"That guy." He chuckled.

"Is it time for you to take in a concubine as well?"

The prince sighed, "I'll never have a concubine. I will only love my wife."

"Prince Kiyoshi, your father - I mean, the king, would prefer that you find at least one concubine."

"I've told you a number of times, call me Prince Teppei."

"Understood, your highness."

"And my father - you know how I feel about him and this subject." A silence appeared above the two of them, creating a perturbing atmosphere between them.

"I will take my leave now."

Prince Kiyoshi leaned on his fist, drifting into a daydream.

"Teppei!" The little boy ran into the woman's arms, relishing the comfort and warmth he rarely received, "I missed you so much, Teppei. Has the king been treating you well? You know that it's very important that you listen to your father. You're going to become the next king when you're older, and I, as a mother should do, will support you in every way. So don't trouble the king, understood?"

The little boy nodded. He was going to become a great king, just like his father was. A king who treated his wife properly.

Or so he thought.

"Mother!" His breathing was heavy.

"A king who treated his wife properly," The prince scoffed, his eyes sad, "What a fool I was when I was younger."
