I rip open the envelope and take out the creased white sheet inside. Tara's writing seems to dance on the page-
"Hey Roger,
This is Tara here. I hope this letter reaches you safely. I don't know if you are reading this. Hopefully, you are. I'm sorry about the whole incident, I overreacted. I should have handled it better. I understand if you are mad.
It's fine, Tara. The mistake was all mine. Don't apologize?
Well, take care. I'll write regularly. You can't write back due to CBI restrictions... Laura's got you covered and I'll get the news from there. If you need anything, just tell her. I'll visit you soon.

Suddenly, I miss her. I want to move back to where I was. But that would mean I'd interrupt her focus on the case, I'd get her into even more trouble. Tyler telling me I was nothing but trouble flashes into my head. Of course I am.
I hold the letter in my hand and re-read it in my a few more times. I wish I hadn't left. I exhale hard as I try not to think about her. I grab my headphones and play some music. Losing myself in the music, I've finally got her out of mind, for a little while at least.
