Julie POV 

Luke's my best friend. Seriously, I don't know what I would do without him. All our friends, AKA Alex, Willie, Flynn and Carrie all think we'd be "cute" together. Ewwww. Boys have cooties. 

"Hey Julie!" Luke says, taking me out of my thoughts

"Yea?" I reply 

"Are you coming over today or am I?" 

"I'm not sure I think mommy said that y'all are coming over but I'm not sure." 

"Ok cool" 

"Yeah" I say 

"Ugh math is so hard" 

"I mean addition is not THAT hard" i try to convince him but we all know it's super hard 

"I know your lying"

"Ugh this is why I hate you" I said 

"No, U LOVE me" he teases 

"Ewww" I reply

Well... everything changes eventually I guess 

*flashback to 3rd grade* 

Luke POV 

God, when did Julie get so pretty? I mean she always has been but still... wait do I have a crush on her?! Nah, it's just my head playing tricks on me.... right? Ugh love is hard oh shoot she's coming my way LUKE ACT NATURAL

"Hey Luke!"

"Sup Julie"

"Not much, my mom said were coming to yours this weekend for dinner." 

"Sweet!  I'm excited to show you the new game I got"

"I'm excited to see it!" She says back with the same amount of enthusiasm

Julie POV 

Ok, I know I haven't been seeing Luke a lot, but I'm just confused with him, it's not like he's any better, he's always so...distant with me like he doesn't want to talk anymore. It's fine, I have my friends Flynn and Carrie (A/N: in this book Carrie and Flynn are good people 😌) 

Luke POV 

Look, I'm trying so hard to see her but i feel like she doesn't want to talk anymore. I'm just so confused with her... it's fine I have my friends Alex and Reggie* 

*Flashback to last year* (AKA end of 10th grade) 

Julie POV 

Me and my boyfriend had just broken up. He cheated on me. Do I look like someone who is going to let them get away with it? Aw heck nah (for the younger  audience lol) I broke up with him, told people in school who told it to other people and others till basically everyone knew and nobody talked to him. Karmas a b*tch 

Luke POV 

My girlfriend cheated one me. Freaking cheated! God I'm so mad, why did she have to be so toxic? Obviously I told everyone and it made its rounds and now nobody talks to her. The universe really said ✨karma✨

Julie came to my house today, I haven't talked to her in forever. Our parents think we're taking and hanging out in my room but she just goes to the guest room and chills out. Today I was walking past it and I heard.... crying? Wtf? Since when does Julie cry? I've always been there for her but I just realized I've been a horrible friend. I knock at the door and say in my softest voice possible, "hey Julie?, it me,Luke"

Julie POV 

I couldn't hold it in anymore. He literally cheated on me. I start to break down and cry (A/N we've all been there sis) I hear knocking at the door and at this point I don't care who it is. It's Luke. Out of all people , the one I've been ignoring, dang I've been a horrible friend "Come..come in" I say through sniffles. "Hey.." he says softly" why are you crying Jules?" Jules. Haven't heard that in a looong time. " my boyfriend cheated on me with some chick named Riley" "Riley!?" He exclaims I flinch at his outburst. His voice and face softens and sits down and rubs my back. I put my head on his shoulder, it's a normal thing we did when we were best friends. "Yeah.. why?" He's starts to shed some tears a little bit "she was my girlfriend " then I realize "oh Luke..." I say, sympathetically. And we just stand their till it's time to go,

That was the last time I really had a deep talk with him .

*present day* 

Luke POV 

Me and Jules are sitting there next to each other on the couch, an always silence filling the room 

Don't get me wrong. I NEVER forgot the time we cried in each other's arms it's just my feelings are so effed up right now. 

"So..." she starts 

"So..." I reply 

My mom comes in with her mom, thank god

" so kids we've called you to sit on this couch because we have a surprise for you!"

"Ooh! What is it!" Jules exclaims. I smile on the inside, I remember how much Julie lives surprises.

"We're going to..." my mom Starts 

"Hawaii!" Rose, julies mom finishes! 

"OH.MY.GOSH. NO.WAY." Julie says 

"Yes way!" Emily, my mom says. Theyve always had a bond together 

"EEEEEE!!!" She Shrieks in excitement. This is the first time I've seen her happy in a long time

"Slow your role, Jules." I chuckle 

"Come on, it's not like your not excited too" 

I smile back, feeling the awkward tension not even there anymore

Julie POV 

You know what, maybe I can get my best friend back
