I kept following Diluc down the pathway. As I walked, I glanced towards him. He walked very formally, but kept his pace, as-well as maintaining a sense of awareness. It seemed he really was the real deal. His coat, boots and fiery red hair gave a strong impression, one I would never forget even though it did give off quite the intimidating look. Even so, something about it was extremely beautiful, and seemed to have a wavering linger of loneliness to it.
I stared at the man from behind as we wandered further and further from the city, it was far enough that even one could see the stars clearly without anything in it's way. It was so much colder out here too. There seemed to be no monsters around, and even if there was, I am sure Diluc could fend them off. After all, he seemed extremely strong. The bag strapped around my shoulders and waist still had the faintest smell of blood, although the stain seemed to stick around. It didn't bother me though that much, the bag was pretty cheap anyways. It wasn't like I had any big money before I went pretty much broke.
Diluc paused and turned around to face me with a stoic look on his face. My expression changed from being cold and tired, to being extremely alert and slightly afraid.
"You are shivering Y/N..", he said as he began to take off his coat. Underneath was a white looking blazer with a black shirt, that had been cared for to the point the fabric looked sort of silky?
"I should have figured, I mean take a look at yourself. Wearing a dress like that in this weather.", Diluc handed me his large coat which was way too big for me.
The coat went down past my knees, but it was warm and had a nice scent. I snuggled tighter into the coat, trying to warm myself as much as I could trying to trap the warm air inside.
"Thank you", I said.
He didn't give me any response, Diluc just kept walking as we did beforehand.
"So Diluc...", I added snuggling further into his large coat.
"What is it", he responded sharply without moving from his current walking position.
"You know, I just met you and all and decided to come with you despite not knowing who you are. It's just, stranger danger and all that right?", I expressed slightly laughing as I said it, feeling stupid.
"I am not interested in your small talk, all I am doing is finding you somewhere to stay for tonight. Is that clear?", Diluc remarked with an angry tone.
Wow, he has anger issues, I thought. All I was trying to do was break the awkward silence between us...
"Oh, sorry then", I said with a bit of an attitude. Again, I was just trying to make some sort of conversation and I even was kind to him. And he decides to be rude back? What an impossible hope was it I had thinking he was a handsome prince charming.
The rest of our journey to wherever the hell he was taking me left off in extreme silence. The only noises were the patter of our footsteps against the ground and the chirps of crickets in the background. Where he was leading me, was somewhere I had not expected at all.
Diluc and I arrived at a large mansion, which seemed to be a winery. It was HUGE! And when I say huge, I don't mean it as an exaggeration. The place had turreted roofs the colour of brick, and vines and plants grew all along the outsides in many different sections. There was a lot of wood, polished to perfection and there were heaps of plants, which seemed to have grapes growing all along them. It looked rich, and it was in its own little secluded area, free from any outside disturbance.
"We are here now, hurry along now", Diluc said as his pace got faster as he walked up to the entrance of the winery. As it was late, I do doubt there would be any maids out here, or workers even. Does he even have maids or workers? Or is this a business he runs alone...but why on earth would he have this whole place to himself? The man opened the front door to reveal an amazingly designed first floor. It had wooden floors and a fireplace, which wasn't on of course. There was also a large dining table with many seats, and a vase topped on a shelf near the stairs that caught my eye.
