Even after letting go of James I couldn’t really think of something convincing to tell him about what he had seen. I looked over to Danielle for help but, she was just as lost as I was with the whole ordeal. “Well someone better start talking because I would like to know how you,” pointing at Danielle, “Can teleport?” he asked in a questioning whisper. He looked between both of us again and rubbed the side of his face while I tried to explain but began stammering over my words, “I uh don’t really know how to explain what you saw so, um,” he held up a hand to me to stop, “So you definitely saw what she can do as well? She can teleport and that doesn’t at least freak you out?Even a little?” I shrugged absently and began again, “Technically…” I endeavored to correct him, but Danielle grabbed my arm and pulled me away, “Do you really think he needs to know? No one has known about me before and I dont know if some random kid should.” She spoke in a malicious tone, “He’s my best friend and he won’t tell anyone if thats what your worried about,” I yanked my arm away, “I trust him and soon enough you’ll have to since he SAW you doing your thing.” I looked into her eyes which was kind of difficult since it was still fairly dark and the tree shadows around us didn’t help matters, “ I dont know Mike. You might be a bit too trusting of some people and that culd get us both in trouble.” I tilted my head and wanted to ask her to explain, “Whatever just dont tell him everything, deal?” I nodded solemnly and looked back at James who was lost in thought and mumbling to himself, “Dude? If you wanna know then come over and hang out at my house for a bit. I’d rather not explain with all these people around us who could just walk up and listen.” James blinked and looked at me warily, “You think they’d believe you? I still dont even believe what I JUST saw!” he was still whispering but I could tell he was completely lost, “No, but still I dont want to take that risk. Come on, lets head home.”
There was an awkward silence as we walked home, the party was still going and we could still hear remnants of it even two blocks away. I looked over my shoulder at James, He was staring at Danielle, I could tell he was trying to process everything he had seen, “You good man?” I asked half heartedly already knowing the answer. He shrugged and kept walking, I cant blame him for staring, at either of us honestly. I had wanted to tell him before, only I had gotten so wrapped up in Danielle. She tugged my sleeve, “Hey, so whats the plan here? I have never told anyone about this so aybe since he’s your friend you can take the lead?” I looked at her pensively and sighed heavily, “Yeah sure thing,I just dont know how he will take it.” She looked back over her shoulder and nodded then grabbed my hand, “Thanks,” She was shaking slightly and trying to hide it. I noticed as she grabbed my hand, “Here, take this.” I slung my jacket off nd gave it to her, “It’s a little big Mike,” She giggled and continued walking forward as I stopped to talk with my friend, “How long have you known about this man? Because it doesn’t seem to be affecting you at all,” we took a left onto my street, “This is all kinds of freaky.” I looked down at the pavement and traced a circle with my foot stopping the grup, “A little while, trust me when we get to my place I will explain the best I can.” He took another look at me and walked ahead of us both.
We got to my house quickly after that and sat in the living room, “Mom! You here?” I shouted, no response. I looked around the kitchen and noticed a note on the fridge, “Got another shift tonight, leftovers in the fridge. Be back by the time your out of school.” I took down the note and sa it on the counter and went back to the living room. Both Danielle and James were eyeing each other, “Okay come on guys, you were perfectly fine earlier so just chill out okay?” James’s shoulders relaxed and Danielle sat back on the couch and let out a heavy breath, “Alright first things first, what you saw was Danielle moving through time is the best way I can put it, I know it sounds weird but what you think is teleprting is really just her slowing down time enough to seem like that.” He looked at me wide eyed and then at Danielle, “So, what is that like exactly? I mean can you turn it on and off?” She gave me a look, “There is no on and off switch for any of this, basically I can just about manipulate my own time, slowing it down enough so that seconds for you could be an hour or more for me and him.” His eyes immediately narrowed,”What do you mean? What does he have to do with what you can do?” He asked quickly, “Wait no! Are you saying what I think you are?” he asked frantically, “Can you do what she does?!” I grimaced and nodded reluctantly, “Kind of, I am still sort of new at this and dont typically use, whatever this is, very often.” he slumped back in his chair and wiped his face with his hand, “Alright, um can you show me then?” I looked at Danielle and she gave no expression, “Thats up to you,” I looked at James and coughed into my fist, “Sure.” I moved to his left, “Keep your eyes on me as best you can ,” As he nodded I shifted and moved to his right, “Pretty freaky right?” He jumped and fell out of te chair, “How in the hell is that even possible! Did you guys come out of a lab or something?!” I shook my head, “As far as I am aware I was a normal kid all my life, wich you should know and I am certain Danielle can say the same.” She rolled her eyes and nodded, “Look I am showin you this because I trust you enough to keep it between us. We can’t have people finding out about this and wondering what it is we do,” i trailed off, “Or you guys will definitely end up in a lab somewhere.” he finished my thought. He seemed to be taking everything in fairly well, although he was still wild eyed, “You gonna be okay man?” I placed my hand on his shoulder and shook him gently, “Of course, I am just gonna head home and see you guys later alright?” He got off the floor and headed for the door, “Your secret is safe with me,” he looked at Danielle, “Both of your secrets.” he smiled wryly and left. I turned back to Danielle, who was still staring at the door, “I did not think that would go how it did. Hopefully your trust isn’t misplaced.” I chuckled, “Well I trusted you didn’t I? Anyway, so now that that is over are you gonna head home?” She gave a weak shrug, “My mom is out with a friend of hers and wont be back until later and I don’t really wanna be alone right now, feel like hanging out a while longer?” I raised an eyebrow, “Didn’t my mom just catch us?” she laughed, “Technically, yes but what dooes that matter?” She smiled curtly. I looked at her and was amazed at how she looked, her jet black hair framed her face in the perfec way and her drk eyes added a bit of mystery to the mix, “You know you are still wearing my jacket?” She snuggled into it and inched away from me, “Well, it is warm and I like it. Besides I am still a bit cold.” I leaned closer to her, “Yeah sure you are,” I leaned in to kiss her but she was gone and tackled m from behind, “Gotta stop falling for that dude seriously!” She boasted, “Oh yeah!” I got up and chased her and she ran up the stairs into my room and I tackled her onto my bed, “Now what time walker?” She looked at me and beamed, “Ooh I like that as a name, maybe we can use it.” Seh flipped us so that she was on top and her hair fell dwn so the rest of the world was blocked off my a dark void, “Time walker it is then.” I leaned up and kissed her and she returned it, “We will have to check on James tomorrow though,” She smiled and rolled her eyes again, “That is tomorrows problem, I would rather be right her today. Wouldn’t you?” I smiled and kissed her again.
I woke up the next morning at around five. I stared at my ceiling for a while until I decided to roll out of bed. Only problem was there was a weight on my right arm, I looked over and Danielle was nestled onto my arm and holding on tight, even in her sleep. She looked cute just laying there, she had tossed my jacket on the floor last night and it was still there. I slipped my arm from her grasp and picked it up, Maybe this is a little crazy, i thought to myself as I walked toward the bathroom to take a shower before school.
By the time I had finished my shower Danielle, I assume, had gone home and I just got ready for school, grabbed muffin from the kitchen and left. School was as noisy as ever as I made my way through the halls to the foyer. That is typically where me and James would meet before school and when I got there he was leaning against a wall playing a game on his phone. I walked over, “Hey, whats up?” he looked at me and grinned, “Better than last night I guess, just alot to take in. With all the poofing and what not in and out of sight.” I gave him a confused look, “I dont poof anywhere.” I laughed, “Kinda looks like it. By the way your girlfriend is here.” I whipped around and Danielle was looking around but hen she saw me she headed straight over, “Hey so are you all good with everything?” She asked James,. I was surprised at how concerned she seemed about him, “Yeah, I will be after a bit but like I said last night my lips are sealed.” She grabbed my hand, “Okay good,” James was giving us a sideways look so I asked him about it, “What is your deal right now?” he held up his hands in a surrendering gesture, “Nothing just wondering what happened after I left last night?” he cackled as he jabbed me in the arm, “Nothing happened calm down,” Danielle chimed in, “Didn’t seem like nothing.” We both turned our gaze to her quickly, “You are not helping right now!” James only laughed and hit me again, “You, my friend, are a wizard, literally.” The bell rang and he walked off, “Didn’t seem like nothing?” I questioned. She waved away the question and dug around in her bag and pulled out a small bead bracelet with the letters TW engraved on each one in silver, “And how did you manage to do this? I literally saw you an hour before school started?” She walked away and said, “Time walker Mike.” quietly over her shoulder. I shook my head and slipped the bracelet into my pocket and began walking to class.
