The day you shifted to: September 1st, 1995 (1:00 pm/13:00)

~As you walked around the giant stone castle, breathing the magic-tinted air into your lungs, you noticed Harry sitting at an outside picnic bench, reading a book labeled "Spells of the Ages (and How to Perform Them)". Your breath caught in your throat as your thoughts swarmed, all going along the lines of "I shifted. I finally did it, I shifted!" and "Harry Potter is sitting in front of me....reading a book....I'm inside of Hogwarts."

Harry felt your stares and looked up, eyeing you between your 10-foot distance. Embarrassed, you looked at your shoes, pretending the laces needed to be tightened. He watched you and smiled, asking if you had needed anything in a steady tone. Your hands were shaking and you felt a bit dizzy, struggling to take in everything that was happening. He noticed, and slowly closed his book while keeping both eyes on you.

"Um...are you alright? Is something wrong?"

"I- um. Yes, merci. Merci means thank you in French....did you know? Also! I'm fine, thanks for asking." You said, stumbling over your words and cringing at yourself.  He blinked, giving you an awkward smile. You returned his gesture and stuck out your hand, steadying your nerves and coming to the understanding that this was your reality.

"I'm Y/N. Sorry for staring earlier, you probably get that a lot." He shakes your hand, slightly laughing at your introduction.

"I do, so it's something I've gotten used to," He pauses, letting go of your hand. "I've never seen you around before, have I? Are you new? Is that why you were shaking?"

You think fast, answering with:

"Yes! I just transferred from Beauxbatons/Durmstrang. I decided to come here this year to witness the Tri-Wizard Tournament. I'm glad I did," Looking at him, you see his scar is hidden by his hair. He steps over a blooming white flower on his way back to the picnic table, grabbing his book and making his way back to you. You walk with him in silence, tracing the grounds with your eyes and taking everything in, ecstatic to finally be home.

"I can't believe I shifted..." You say, forgetting a confused Harry to your left. He looks at you and asks what you meant, holding the back of his neck with his right hand. Your heartbeat quickens as you search for an excuse, a story, anything to cover up what you just said. Finding nothing, you notice you wandered over to the library and take his hand.

"If you sit with me I'll explain everything to you. Trust me?"

Harry scratches his head and straightens the book under his arm, readying himself to say no. Sighing, he gives in and agrees, following you to an empty table in the back of the library. A huge window above the table allows him to gaze out at the quidditch field, where he sees Ron and Oliver running laps. Ron looks over and waves, tripping over his foot in the process. Harry laughs and waves back before turning his attention to you.

"Ready to explain? Or is this a trick to lead *he who shall not be named* to me?" He whispers, looking into your eyes.

"Um...no. I'm sure Moldy Voldy would kill me before I had the chance to smell his essence." You say, watching to see if he reacts to the nickname. He blinks before erupting in quiet cackles, sending you both into a laughing fit. After a Gryffindor student glares at you and tells you both to pipe down, you settle into the window seat and look at your hands, your nerves leaping.

"Basically...this reality wasn't originally mine. I come from a place where you aren't real, Ron isn't real, Hogwarts isn't real. In my reality, you're a movie character and a book series, nothing more than that. I came here to live life with magic and no boundaries, and right now I don't want to go back. All I did was move my conscious to another body living in my desired reality. Do you understand, or is it too complicated?" You rushed, flicking your eyes up to read him.

"Oh. That makes sense. I believe you, don't worry. It seems like something Remus might teach us about this year, so maybe I'll learn more about it. Thanks for telling me." Harry says with a nonchalant look on his face. Your mouth drops and you stare at him, confused at his lack of concern or curiosity.

"Do you think you could tell me more about it? Maybe I can ask him about it later?" You bring your lips back together and blink a few times before agreeing, telling him you didn't expect him to believe you. He smiles and grabs a few sheets of paper before you continue educating him, writing down the key parts and small details. When the bell rings you walk to lunch together, as he promises not to let your secret slip.
