The day you shifted to: December 22th, 1995

Snow twinkled softly under the faint sunlight as students ran through the field, yelling their farewells to friends and exchanging gifts to be opened on Christmas. You laughed as Ron frantically tried to claw his way out of a snowbank while first years threw snowballs at him.

"Y/N!! HELP ME!" He yelled, covering his face while first years screamed with joy. Neville giggled with you as they ran off, away from a slightly angry redhead. You walked over and dusted his back off while he grumbled about "respecting their elders", which sent you back into a laughing fit complete with bending over and holding your stomach. You hugged him and asked if he wanted to go inside, which he immediately agreed with while looking around for the smaller students.

When he saw them coming back he practically sprinted to the Gryffindor common room, leaving you little time to catch up to him. Once he ran out of breath, you found yourselves outside of the kitchen, giving him a sneaky idea. He motioned for you to come over, and after he peeked inside and found it empty he led you in, closing the door behind you.

He went into the large pantries and came out holding powdered hot chocolate mix and a bag of fluffy white marshmallows.

"What? Don't you like marshmallows?"

Answer #1: "Yes, let's make some hot chocolate!"

He smiled and threw the bag at you, allowing you the chance to rip it open and relocate some into your mouth.  As he turned on the stove, you grabbed the mugs and a pot to make the hot chocolate in. An echo filled the room as the brass plot clanged against the marble countertop, waiting to be of use. You both filled the empty room with laughter, and the next hour was heaven. The warm room gave you comfort to melt into an armchair, appreciation filling your heart. He was next to you, enjoying your time spent together and a mug of melted marshmallows and piping hot chocolate. You got so comfortable you soon felt tired, having to catch yourself from falling off the chair on more than one occasion. After gently setting your mug down on an island counter, you fell back into the chair and snuggled into the arm, resting your head on your hands, and slowly closing your eyes.

"Y/N? Are you...going to sleep? At-" He looked up at the mahogany clock next to the kitchen door. "5:55 p.m? Are you sick?" He looked at you opening your eyes back up, fighting to stay awake.

"It's that early? I guess I should've gone to sleep last night.." You think back to your adventures of exploring the castle with Ginny, one of the best experiences you've had in the past 4 months. "But I'm alright! I'll stay awake, but just for you, okay? Don't tell anybody." Punching his arm playfully, you sit up and face him, slapping your cheeks to stop you from passing out.

He smiled, starting up a conversation. "Are you excited for Christmas? What do you think you'll get this year?" You giggled, excitement filling every corner of your body.

"Of course I'm excited!" You rush out, "It is my first Christmas at Hogwarts!" You stop, your smile disappearing, and you take interest in a stained-glass ornament on a tree outside the window.

"What do you mean your "first" Christmas? You've always stayed for Christmas since 1st year. What's changed?" He questions, curiosity brimming in his eyes.

Still memorizing every inch of the tree, you answer, "Oh...I just meant it'll the first year I'm able to drive on Christmas day. You know, legally." Your fingers lace themselves together and free themselves repeatedly. You stop, wondering if he noticed your key sign of your nerves getting to you. Crossing your legs, you take a sip of your hot cocoa, calming yourself. He didn't notice, you say, starting to stiffly relax.
