When the night came, Ram sent Noi and the ongis to sneak inside the Fang to Nakai's room to send him a message. "If he refuses to help, we've just flushed our tactical advantage into the dung pot." Tong muttered.
"I know."
"Yeah. He really has no reason to help us." Boun muttered as you smiled awkwardly.
"I know!"
"This jerky's terrible." Sisu commented as she ate the jerky.
"I know!"
"Are you sure those four miniature menaces will be successful?"
"I don't know." You patted his back as he grew stressed about answering those questions.

Nakai cleaned the bracelet carefully with the soaked blanket for not to get it dirty. He then heard a sound from the balcony before something threw to the edge. He hummed before he picked it up and read the paper. He then opened the fabric and saw the old necklace he had since childhood.
He inspected it as he thought about the message and the gift he had.

You watched the spot that you thought was Nakai's bedroom, you hoped that he would accept your gift and not be exposed to the guards and his mother. "Are you worried, (Y/N)?"
You turned to Ram as he caressed your head. "I know Nakai. Even though we knew each other just a day, I believe that he won't break our trust."
"Why do you trust him so deeply, may I ask?" Ram has been curious about it ever since you tried to convince him all six years straight. You both even had an argument once but he made up with you later because he couldn't be mad at you.
"Back at Tail, I noticed my bracelet, clean and safe on his wrist. It gives me the feeling that he still wants to be our friend otherwise he would get rid of it six years ago."
Ram nodded as he understood your point. "There's too much spice." You both turned to see Tong and Boun having an argument about the taste of the soup.
"Uh, no. There's too much bamboo."
"What do you know? You have the taste buds of a tall baby." Ram stood up as if he was gonna stop the fight but you patted his chest as if you knew what to do.
"Well, you dress like a tall baby." Boun sarcastically commented as Tong's eyes widened.
"Give me the spoon! I'm taking over!"
"Back off, tidal wave. I'm the professional here."
You went between the two as you picked up the bag of palm sugar in your pocket. "May I?" You poured it into the soup, Boun stirred it before taking a sip.
"Whoa! That's good."
You chuckled as you went to sit beside Ram. "It's just a little something my Pa showed me and Ram."
"Aw. Did he also show you guys how to make that delicious jerky?" Sisu sarcastically questioned.
"No, that was all me." Ram said with the same tone. Sisu gave the bowl to Ram before he gave it to you and you stared at it with a sad smile.
"It'll be nice to share a meal with him again." You said as you sipped the soup with the spoon before you smiled sadly as it reminded you of your father's soup.
