I explained to everyone that I was going with Donald, but they could stay the night in my apartment. Crash got a little sad, but I promised I'd spend time with him all weekend. Poor guy, he's so lonely now that he's lost Jeong and Ren. He still had Prim, though. I guess that's a plus for him.

We walked to Donald's apartment. The walk got boring, but Donald started a conversation before I could. "What's the deal with Crash?"

"Oh, he had a super sad upbringing and he has serious abandonment issues. I love the guy like he's my own brother, but sometimes he can be a bit much."

"Have you known him for a long time?"

"Yup. Since we were about five. I remember meeting him while he was walking around one day. He was just kicking a rock and looked sad. Prim and I have been friends for as long as I can remember. One day Prim and I went to Crash's house to spend time with him, but his mom answered the door. She was all scary and stuff. It didn't take us long to figure out he was another abused kid like us."

"Abused? How?"

"His mom had a split personality. She grew up really close to her brother, when she was nine he died saving her life. She cracked some ice on a river and he just barely pushed her away. He fell into the ice and the current swept him away. Apparently he was actually a psychopath, like from birth, did not care about anything. The only person he liked was his sister. After he died she picked up his aggressive habits and to cope her mind shoved those painful memories to the side and took his personality, making her into him in a way. She had no memory of ever hurting Crash. I think she actually loved him, but her other personality, her brother's personality, he'd lock Crash in this freezer in their basement. It wasn't plugged in, but I imagine it was still terrifying."

"So how'd he end up with you guys?"

"Aera, Min, Prim, and I were friends with Crash from a very young age. We went to his house one day, when we were twelve. We heard him screaming, and decided to go in and help him. It ended with his mom being pushed down the stairs and dying. After that we took care of him for a year, until we were thirteen, when we met Jeong. Jeong was starting a gang of misfits and abused kids like us, Min and Aera have a nice home life, but they still joined to support us as friends. After I left I imagine it destroyed Crash. He needed Prim and I, even Aera. We were his favorites by far. We've always taken care of him and protected him when we could. Jeong and Ren were like brothers to him."

"Why did he leave them, then?"

"One day Jeong just... changed. He got mean, we were about fifteen at the time and he just got aggressive. He started to," I took a deep breath, "you know. When he couldn't hurt me he had to hurt someone, and Crash was so close with me it made him a target. Crash refused to leave, because Jeong was like his brother. I guess that since Prim is with me, he decided our side was better," I looked up at Donald. "He's one of us now, Donald. The rules that apply to my girls apply to him, too. Remember that."

"Whatever makes you happy," he looked ahead, not wanting to show any weakness in public. Does he really think showing affection makes him weak?

We arrived at his apartment, which was nice as hell. It was pretty simple and basic on the inside. He's definitely a "necessities only" type of guy. The apartment is very open and he has a lot of large windows. He has a love seat, a coffee table, and a TV in the living room. No wall decoration. No plants. No rugs. His kitchen is clean and organized, too. No decoration in here, either. The counters are bare, not even a toaster is sitting out on it. I softly laughed and took his hand in mine.

"What?" I looked down at me.

"Your home is so simple. It's kind of cute."

Still holding his hand I walked into the bathroom. It only had a shower, sink, and toilet. The shower had that blurry glass, the sink had some soap beside it and a hand towel hanging up. There weren't any shelves for extra appliances, no paintings, the walls weren't even painted. It was a simple, bare, white bathroom. I turned the light to the bathroom off and walked into the only bedroom in the apartment.
