Two years ago, I met a girl...and fell for her. Her name was Val, 17 at the time and a senior that everybody knew. I became attracted the moment I first met her, despite not being fully aware of what I was really feeling. I thought I was only becoming a fan of her beauty like everyone one else, but it was actually much more. I wanted her in an intimate, passionate, physical and emotional way. I began to dream of her at nights and woke up sexually aroused-my whole body covered in sweat. I was into Val, a girl like myself. That's when I realized I was a lesbian. I couldn't even find males attractive and had never dated one before. At first I thought I was just not there yet to have feelings, but didn't know that I was actually into females until I met Val. This is how my heart break began.
One night, I went to a small sleep over party with a friend and saw Val there as well. We exchanged looks. She wore tight shorts and a baggy tee that loosened past her right shoulder. She had her curly brown hair up and wore sandals, revealing teal colored toenails. I found her beauty, even without trying, to be natural. I've never really hung around where she was there, let alone ever conversate with her. This was all the first times.
Once everyone gathered around the living room, I found myself sitting right next to Val. Immediately, her vanilla scent filled my nostrils. She smelled good and made me feel like bees in the summer following the smell of pollen.
"Hi," she said smiling at me. I blushed, my cheeks feeling hot and smiled back. "Did Jeanie invite you to come?" Her blue eyes were sparkling even in the dim light.
"Actually, Lauren did." Lauren was my sister and Jeanie was her best friend ever since elementary.
"Same here, she said you'd be here so I decided to come." She smiled wider, this time her cheeks turning bright red.
I stared at her, surpised.
"You came because of me?"
She looked away nodding. I could feel my heart pounding with excitement. At that point, I felt special and wanted by the very person I secretly had deep feelings for.
"Mind me asking why?"
Suddenly, Jeanie entered the center of the room and held an empty glass bottle up for everyone to see. She smiled at everyone and began to speak.
"Thanks everyone for coming, lets bond by playing the Truth Or Dare game. Let's make circle and get this game started." Everyone did as she instructed and formed a large circle. Jeanie placed the glass in the center and spun it around. The first went directly to me.
"Lira, truth or dare?" Jeanie asked, a grin stretched across her freckled face. I knew that if I chose 'dare' she would make me do something ridiculous just to embarrass me. So I chose 'truth'. "Okay, are you a virgin?"
The question was unexpected and although it was simple, I found myself wanting to avoid it. Especially with everyone and Val watching me, the question became more complicated.
I looked at the ground hoping it would make it easier to answer and said, "Yes."
"Next up, spin the bottle, Lira." Jeanie said calmly and smiled at me. If I had said no, it would've sparked a continuous conversation of how, who, when and why.
I spun the bottle hoping it wouldn't point at me again.
"Lauren!" Jeanie exclaimed.
Lauren blushed avoiding the attention and waited for me.
"Truth or dare?" I asked.
She thought for a moment, looking at the ground at first and then sighing.
"Truth," she replied and everyone groaned, disappointed that she avoided a challenge as well. I wasn't sure what to ask her so I said the first question I could think of.
"If you were to kiss someone here, who would you choose?" Suddenly the question attracted everyone else's attention.
Lauren frowned at me but I looked away and avoided her angry and betrayed expression.
"You better choose or else, we will switch to a dare." Jeanie demanded, her grin still intact. It was obvious she was having fun.
I turned my gaze at Val who kept yawning and sighing, maybe due to boredom. She may have played this game one too many times to find it any more interesting to her.
"I would probably kiss Val. " Lauren finally answered, her face bright red. Val blushed as well, although smiling to hide how embarrassed she felt. But a part of me wished she had not picked Val. Because now, the thought of them kissing began to flood my thoughts.
"Why Val?" I asked her.
Lauren shrugged, her eyes searching the room. "She's-you know- hot. I mean, wouldn't you want to kiss her, Lira?"
A backfire, because now everyone had turned to me including Val. I looked at her, feeling trapped. Just as from the corner of my eyes, I could see Lauren spinning the bottle....it pointed at Val.
"Dare," she said before it was even asked.
"Kiss Lira."
She placed both hands on my sides, began to lean towards me. Her face slowly approaching my face. I could feel everyone staring at us with excitement and I, too, was filled with much more excitement. This was about to really happen, in reality. She closed her eyes and I closed mine, waiting.
