Despair. Even when the Tall Man wasn't here, that's all this place ever seemed to be in. The house always appeared in shambles no matter what repairs they did to it, the weather always cloudy and raining. Rarely did they have a nice day; the weather being dreary and sky covered in a gray overcast. Tim was at this point sure the sun never shone here and never would.

Today was no better; rain thundered overhead, lightning striking down more than one would like. It never dared strike the shambling wood of the house, yet taunted the residence with the prospect. One was certain a forest fire would rise any minute with each crash. With the weather as it was, it was rather hard to stay motivated for them to do anything. Especially when the Operator didn't need your 'services'. This was how the Proxy's found themselves sheveled away in their room, partly dying of boredom with seemingly nothing to do. Well, Brian and Tim had.

Toby had found himself occupied with BEN and Jeff on the Xbox until Jeff thought it to be a good idea to smash a controller in a fit of rage, and Toby almost yanking the Xbox from it's spot on a high shelf via cord from the controller anytime his twitches got real bad. They definitely weren't gonna be invited to play again for a long while by the sounds of it. So Toby saw cross legged on his bed, pillow clutched against his chest as the soft murmur of the other two's voices crawled through the room, with Toby's voice occasionally piping in.

"I'm just saying," Brain was saying from his spot lying on the bed, eyes focused on the rubix cube above his head as he spoke, "Superman could totally take Goku in a fight."

"If he didn't go any farther than Super Sayain one, sure," Tim scoffed from his spot at the foot of the bed, flicking his cigarette into the ashtray at his feet. "But two or stronger? Nah, Superman doesn't have a chance."

Toby seemed rather unsure was to what the other two were talking about, though seemed interested regardless. At least he was staying somewhat quiet (aside from the occasional ticking and cracking of his neck), which was refeilf on such a dreary, lazy day.

Then the room suddenly became dark, even with the constant flashes of lightning outside; as if a strange force was sucking out all the light except for the cherry of Tim's cigarette. No light shone through their closed doorway, indicating that the hallway light that once, too, been on was now turned off; indicating that the power in the entire house had gone off. There was silence in the entire room -- house, it almost seemed -- before someone finally spoke.

"Breaker must've tripped," Tim muttered, ashing his cigarette.

"Someone'll go down and turn it back on," Brian responded.

There came another long bout of silence, as if the darkness had taken the sound along with it -- until there came the tiniest of noises. One could assume it to be the creaking of a floor board, or a door slowly opening from somewhere in the house. Again, there was silence before Toby piped up.

"What'd ya think that was?"

"Maybe it's a monster," replied Tim, almost sounding sarcastic.

"Maybe if you compliment it," Brain chortled, "it won't kill us."

"You have beautiful eyes," Toby giggled, and snickers filled the once quiet room. That was, until the sound of the light switch being flicked on sounded and the light flickering on --

And much to their shock and half hearted horror as the Proxy's froze instantly in their place, Eyeless Jack glared metaphorical daggers at them from the now half open doorway. Before anything could be said, Brian and Tim instantly burst into laughter; Brain dropping the rubix cube he held onto the bed as he grasped onto his sides with a short manantra of, "Oh no!" as Tim fell onto his back and on Brian's legs, one hand on his stomach and the other on his face. Toby stared wide eyed at Jack, not breaking eye contact even as a large, toothy smile grew onto his face.

"First of all, fuck you," Jack said, sounding quite pissed.

Toby's hand shot up to his mouth as he attempted to choke out the giggles that rose in his throat.

"Secondly, the breaker flipped. Everything's fine."

Toby's shoulders began to contort as his eyes quickly glued closed, attempting to keep his composure.

"Lastly, fuck you."

Toby burst into a fit of laughter, falling onto his side then as Jack made his way out of the bedroom; slamming the door shut behind him and causing the door frame to shake as he left. Brian and Tim laughed all throughout; barely getting time to calm down before the door slammed shut, of which only caused them to laugh harder once more. It took several long minutes for the three to calm down; albeit Toby leaving the room in giggles that were only ever interrupted by randomly placed ticks and twitches.

"That was beautiful," Brian spoke first as he finally relaxed, wiping away the remaining tears that ran down his face.

"You fuck up a lot, Rodgers," spoke Tim with a giggle still prominent, "but that was priceless."

"T-ten out-tta t-ten," giggled Toby, "wo-would do again."

"Please don't," Tim tried to dead pan, sitting up so he could snub out his now dying cigarette. "I-I don't feel like burying a corpse anytime soon."

"N-no pr-promises," Toby retorted.

That was all that was needed, really, in such a place blanketed in death and despair as they giggled and talked amongst themselves. Else, how would one stay sane?
