A second. A minute. An hour.

I don't know how long it has been since we left. My sense of time has always been off the mark. I'm sitting in the middle of the dark, a cold metal wall on my back. The occasional swaying and rattling of equipments within the compartment keeps me reminded of the fact that I am riding in a cargo vehicle.

It's finally time...

It seems like they've taken an interest towards you and your ability...

B Four!... you don't know?... it's bye bye big bro~ hehe...

I hope we meet again... Take care.

Voices and memories echoed through my thoughts. I never really felt attached to that place, but still, it's the only home I had. A home I will never be able to return to.

The door of the compartment opened with the sound of compressed air releasing, as the compartment itself was air tight and the only ventilation was an automated system. It seems like I was too deep in thought and did not notice that we had arrived at our destination. I was blinded temporarily by the bright light coming in from the opened entrance. There was a figure standing there, and he was wearing an unbuttoned light gray lab coat over his office attire which was a blue stripe patterned white polo shirt and black slacks.

"Sorry I had to let you sit in here during the trip," the man said as he pushed his glasses up with his middle finger. He had a smile on his face that could be mistaken as a mocking one. "I was afraid you'd unintentionally disrupt the equipments. We didn't want to get into an accident, did we?"

I knew that what he said was true. After all, I was an unstable existence in this world. My "soul" is loosely connected to my physical body, and it would tend to expand and disrupt electronic equipments around me. That was the diagnosis in the research institute I grew up in. My mother supposedly died as soon as I was born because my "soul" expanded and interfered with her systems. My father left me in the research institute as he did not know what to do with me.

I knew all that, but still I silently grit my teeth. The equipments the man mention were shielded, and other equipments were also present in the compartment I was in. Furthermore, I was wearing a restraining collar the institute specially developed for me in order to stabilize my condition and prevent my "soul" expanding. He inentionally made me stay in the cargo compartment. I knew the true reason. It was because he hated me and my very being. He was the assistant head of the research that focused primarily on my development. The head was a talented researcher, and she was young and beautiful. The assistant fell in love with her at first sight, and applied to work under her, only to find out that she was so obsessed with my "ability". She had no time for anything else but everything of me. He felt jealous.

"Heh..." I chuckled a little. Thinking about it, I realized that it was a foolish thing.

"It can't be helped," I said as I stood up. "We didn't want you dying before you could even confess." I walked to the entrance and jumped down on the hard cement road.

"Tch." He glared at me, and I returned his glare.

"Don't you dare look down on me, monster," he hissed.

"Oh, but I alread did." It felt like he was about to punch me when the sound of quick approaching footsteps could be heard. We both turned our heads and saw a young lady who looked a bit older than me stop before us. She was wearing a white uniform with a blue tie and black pencil skirt with knee length stockings. On her left upper arm was a red armband with a logo and small words that said "Discipline Commitee". It seems she was in a total rush as she was breathing hard and was stooping over a little. She then took a deep breath and raised her body. Then she looked at us with a gleaming smile, her dark brown hair softly swaying with the cold breeze.

"Welcome to the South PCM Academy~" she declared with confidence and grace.

"Good," the assistant declared as he took a thick brown envelope from within his coat and handed it to her.

"Huh?" she asked with a blank expression, confused to what is happening.

"All the needed documents are in there and his stuff were already delivered beforehand." He walked past us and pressed some buttons on the console by the entrance of the cargo compartment. It closed and he hurriedly went around and entered the driver's seat.

"W-w-w-wait!" the girl stammered as she ran by the door of the driver's seat. "Aren't you his guardian? Won't you be accompanying him around the academy?"

"Huh? I'm not his guardian. I'm in a hurry and was supposed to deliver equipments on a research site. I was asked a favor to bring him over here, as his guardian was on a sick leave." The cargo vehicle made a hum as it started to accelerate out of the place. The girl was left there dumbstruck. She probably wasn't expecting this to happen.

I looked at the building in front of me. It was highly modernized. Light was reflecting from a high multitude of glass panels. Radars could be seen at equal distances from each other on top of the building. From what I've read, this was just the front building used for accepting guests.

"Uhm..." a voice disrupted my thoughts. The Discipline Commitee girl was facing me and took out her hand.

"My name is Rohna DuLeill, the secretary of the Discipline Commitee and currently in my fourth year in the academy. I was tasked to guide you and your guardian around the campus. It's a pleasure to meet you." I shook her hand. She was from a Du family, a prestigious lineage.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, too... but about my guardian, the professor, she---"

"Hmm... So she's your official guardian. Don't worry. Professor Enaise has sent a formal letter of apology, and informed us that she would be arriving before the winter break ends."

"I see..." Professor Enaise was the head researcher of my case. She was also the one who approved of sending me to the South PCM Academy, with the reason of it being a part of her research on the field of applications of my ability. To me, she was more than that. The rules of society, basic knowledge, morals and values; all of these I learned through her.

"Shall we go, then?" Rohna DuLeill asked as she made a curtsy. I gave a slight nod.
