It was probably around noon and we were walking on the once hot tarmac, now cold and rain-covered due to us no longer being in Afghanistan. We had made contact with the other bases who are still trying to wrap their heads around the idea that we traveled to another universe.
We were going to be displayed at Savannah central, where every news channel would be interviewing us and our equipment for the sake of the city. The colonel was going to be the one to explain the important stuff since he is the highest ranking soldier In the base.
There would be an air show and many aircrafts, mainly helicopters, would be on display. Some mammals as they like to be called would be given rides.
Judy had informed me of the major things Zootopia had to face such as this Night howler incident. The faces on Judy and Nick were absolutely priceless when we said savage animals, well... regular animals, are an everyday thing. This sheep named Dawn bellwether reminded me of Ridley, if those two decided to team up, god help us all.
Thankfully she was in a maximum security prison, getting out would be like trying to get an elephant through a mouse hole. That still didn't make me feel any better.
Seeing the city from the side, i told the pilots of the Blackhawk to hover above the stage. I saw probably millions of mammals down there as we came in. I loved riding without seats as my legs dangled while the helicopter flew. It was like a nerve wracking roller coaster.
The helicopter pulled in and hovered over the stage while the co-pilot gave a thumbs up to the crew chiefs of the medical helicopter as they came over to us and hooked us up to the hoist cable. One by one, the rescue hoist Lowered us to the ground to the shock of everybody watching.
The Blackhawk pulled away and circled to land where the some soldiers who would be stationed here had popped smoke. I was going to ask where Colonel Halbert was but my train of thought was smashed when a low flying C-130 flew overhead, startling the crowd.
Four parachutes were deployed, I noticed one of the men was Colonel Halbert, of course he would make a big entrance like this. The crowd immediately started snapping pictures and I'm glad I kept my helmet visor down. The colonel looked at me, pointing towards the sky. Understanding his gesture, I flicked my visor up and decided to take off my helmet entirely, exposing my short silky black hair.
The Mayor was the first to speak to the press. The Colonel stood behind him, ready to take the reporters' questions head on like a raging bull.
"Citizens of Zootopia, I'm sure you all have heard of the new species that had appeared early in the day in Savannah central."
"I am here to put those rumors to rest."
The reporters went loco as the first reporter, a pig, stood out in front of the crowd.
"Johnny Hogwarts, how do we know they are not here to invade".
That I can not say, but Colonel Halbert will answer any questions that I can not answer. The Mayor stepped down and let the colonel take his place.
"To answer any questions that involve invasions, we are not here to invade."
A cow came up after the pig left.
"Emma Cowson, can you explain what you intend to do in Zootopia?"
"Certainly, ma'am."
"We are only here until we capture a criminal of our world, as soon as we do, I will ask if my subordinates would like to live the rest of their lives here."
The next reporter was a rather obese elephant wearing a blue business suit.
Colonel Halbert, Ronald Trunk, you came here with weapons we have no knowledge of, what are the weapons you have brought to this city.
